Will the Steelers do something they don’t normally do and trade up in the first round to draft Devin Bush or Devin White? It seems like most fans have acknowledged that trading up for the best ILB in the draft, Devin White, from LSU, will be to expensive. So, the man crush of many fans has shifted towards, Devin Bush, the 2nd rated ILB from Michigan. Devin Bush has soured up the draft chart after a stellar combine performance that really showcased his athleticism. In fact, Bush leapfrogged Mack Wilson, ILB from Alabama. Prior to the combine Wilson was widely considered the 2nd best ILB in the draft and was a late 1st-to-early 2nd draft pick. Isn’t it a concern that a player like Devin Bush went from a borderline 1st-2nd round pick to a top 15 pick after the combine?
Devin White, ILB, LSU – Trade Up Scenario
If the Steelers want to trade up for Devin White, they might need to trade up to the 4th overall pick which is currently occupied by the Oakland Raiders. That will be extremely costly. According to the NFL Trade Value Chart the Steelers would need to trade Oakland at a minimum their 2019 1.20, 2.38, 3.83 and their 2020 second round round pick. Is Devin White that much of a game changer? We’ll see. The bottom line is that the Steelers are more than a ILB away from being a Super Bowl contender and they can’t afford to give up that many premium picks on a ILB.

Devin Bush, ILB, Michigan – Trade Up Scenario
If the Steelers want to trade up for Devin Bush, they should probably target the 9th overall pick which is currently occupied by the Buffalo Bills. According to the NFL Trade Value Chart the Steelers would need to trade Buffalo their 2019 1.20, 2.38, 3.83. That’s still a large pill to swallow. This draft is deep in defensive talent and the Steelers have several needs which includes TE, OLB, CB, S, WR and ILB. I don’t like giving up a 2nd round pick in this draft. Maybe a 2020 2nd rounder would be a better choice. This is at least doable and is the most likely scenario.
