SAN FRANCISCO (KDKA) — Monday Night’s Steelers game was delayed twice because of a power outage.
Before the game a transformer exploded near Candlestick Park. The outage happened shortly after 8 p.m. EST and delayed kickoff for about 20 minutes.
The players had finished warm-ups at that point and were back in the locker room.
Some power was restored to the stadium at about 8:35 p.m. About five minutes later, players from both teams took the field.
A second power outage delayed the game with 12:13 in the second quarter. The 49ers led 6-0. Roethlisberger, who played with a high ankle sprain, threw two interceptions in the first quarter.
The game resumed after about 15 minutes.
