Steelers Want Roethlisberger In Sunday For at Least 25-30 Snaps

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger

Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a “shot” to play Sunday in Cleveland, and now there’s word that the team really doesn’t want him to sit for two straight games getting set for the postseason.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says that the Steelers want Roethlisberger to play about 25-30 snaps against the Browns.

Roethlsiberger playing is interesting, since it’s up in the air if the Steelers will have to play in wild card weekend or not. The Steelers are hopeful they can win and then the Ravens will lose in Cincy.

If that happens, the Steelers will have a week off and won’t play until Saturday, January 14th or Sunday, January 15th. If Roethlsiberger doesn’t play at all Sunday, and they do get the bye, that’s 26 or 27 days since he would have last played, and the team doesn’t want him sitting that long.

Expect the team to be careful with him, but for him to play Sunday – even if it’s just for a quarter or half.
