A Forbes Magazine report lists Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin at $ 5.75 million, tying him with Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt as the 6th highest paid coach in the NFL, and 8th highest in professional sports.

Tomlin, a two-time AFC champion and winning coach of Super Bowl XLIII, is 55-25 in five seasons at the helm in Pittsburgh, most recently, a 12-4 2011 campaign.

He’s helped set the bar so high in the legendary franchise, that year, without a playoff win, is seen as a disappointment.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is No. 1 on the list, at $ 7.5 million. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, Rams coach Jeff Fisher and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll tie for second at $ 7 million.

Tomlin’s former colleague, Bears coach Lovie Smith, ranks 7th on the list at $ 6 million. Philadelphia’s Andy Reid rounds out the top 10 at $ 5.5 million.

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers is also in at No. 2 with $ 7 million, and San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is tied with Smith for 6th overall at $ 6 million.

Belichick, Shanahan and Tomlin are the only three NFL coaches in the top 10 to have won a Super Bowl. Whisenhunt, Fisher, Smith and Reed were head coaches in one. Popovich (4) and Rivers (1) have each won championships in the NBA.

Pete Carroll has never coached in a Super Bowl.
