PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Two Steelers assistants are reportedly in the conversation for college head coaching positions.
Quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner is in the mix for the Memphis job, and the Memphis Commerical Appeal reports he’s interested in the position. He was a graduate assistant at Memphis from 1990-93 and offensive coordinator from 2001-06.
Fichtner has been with the Steelers for five years and has coached the quarterbacks since 2010.
Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson is rumored to be interviewing at Illinois for the Illini’s head coaching vacancy. Wilson played at Illinois in the early 1980s and has been with the Steelers organization since 2007.
