Report: Ward’s DUI charge dropped

Georgia authorities dropped a drunk driving charge against Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward Wednesday.

As part of an agreement with DeKalb County prosecutors, Ward pleaded guilty to reckless driving stemming from his arrest last July, and also pleaded no contest to a charge of failing to maintain his lane, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

He agreed to serve a year on probation, pay a $ 2,000 fine and perform 80 hours of community service.

Ward, who turns 36 next month, was pulled over after hitting a curb on an Atlanta highway. He failed a field sobriety test and refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

The two-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowler was released after posting $ 1,000 bond.

Ward, who was the MVP of the Steelers’ Super Bowl XL victory, has said he intends to play next season, but it remains unclear whether he will be back for a 15th season in Pittsburgh.

Ward caught 46 balls for 381 yards and two touchdowns last season in a reduced role in the offense.
