Pittsburgh Steelers Minicamp: Thursday Open Thread

Photo

I’m off to the glorious city of Wilmington, Delaware, via Philadelphia this morning and won’t have much of a chance to weigh in on the action surrounding the Steelers today. Doesn’t mean I can’t predict a few headlines now, though.

The buzz is starting around 7th round pick Kelvin Beachum, as we wrote earlier today. OT Marcus Gilbert held out for a little bit with a shoulder injury yesterday (nothing too alarming), and rookie Mike Adams stepped into the spot. We’ll hear about more shuffling today, and perhaps Beachum will be one of those who moves up.

Obviously, WR Mike Wallace isn’t there. Ben thinks he should be there, but he’s not going to spend more time talking about Wallace’s absence than talking up the guys who are there. We’ll probably hear more of the same, which is and should be the company line.

“Coach Hamp” is making the young dogs do them some learnin’, which is good. Nose tackle in this defense is all about technique, and the more exposure Steve McLendon and Alameda Ta’amu get to a generational player like Hampton, the better.

Any other thoughts? What are we going to read about tomorrow?
