PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – NFL Insider for CBS Sports, Pat Kirwan joined the Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to talk about the Steelers’ current salary cap situation.
Talking about the amount of money that the Steelers are over the salary cap, Kirwan said that the Steelers “have got a long way to go to get to zero.” Names of players he thinks the Steelers should cut were: Hines Ward, James Farrior, and Casey Hampton.
The limited cap space causes a lot of concern over wide receiver, Mike Wallace. Kirwan tells the Fan Morning Show that he has great respect for Steelers’ General Manager, Kevin Colbert, but other teams (even within the AFC North) will be trying to bring in the Pro Bowl receiver for more money on an offer sheet than the Steelers will be able to match.
We also get his thoughts on how Antonio Brown has developed, and how the relationship between the established offensive players, and new Offensive Coordinator, Todd Haley, will work.
