PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — By all reports, Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor sat alone in his locker after the Steelers 29-23 Wildcard playoff loss at Denver Sunday.
The locker next to Taylor’s was reportedly broken and he sat in his stall, head down and inconsolable. Taylor chose not to speak to reporters, and understandably so.
Taylor, who was a surprise snub for this year’s Pro Bowl, got burned four times for deep passes Sunday. The last of which resulted in the Steelers demise, as Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime.
Taylor had the coverage and was responsible for keeping Thomas from getting to the middle of the field. Taylor couldn’t, and the play sent the Steelers back to Pittsburgh for an offseason that should bring many changes.
Despite not speaking with reporters, Taylor took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the game.
Taylor first congratulated the Broncos for their win and then issued an apology for his performance.
“Second I apologize for playing the worst game at the wrong time apologize to my teammates steelernation and family. Luv y’all to def,” Taylor tweeted.
Thomas finished the game with 204 yards receiving on four catches — a 51-yard average — and one touchdown. Tebow targeted him for passes seven times.
