I think Will Allen will contribute immediately on special teams and will be given every chance to compete for the starting FS position against Mundy and a rookie draft choice.
Don't forget guys...Clark came here after playing for 2 teams and suddenly became a player. Allen has an extra 2 years under his belt before his signing with the Steelers. But Clarks had 28 starts, 161 TT, & 3 INTS before he signed with the Steelers. Allen has 26 starts, 195 TT, & 4 INTS. So we are getting some experience. I don't think he will be handed the starting job. I'm just excited because he is an upgrade over Carter...Thank God!!!
who isn't an upgrade over Tyrone Carter?
Absolutely, I look at this as an upgrade over Carter if nothing else.
The Steelers’ went through seven consecutive drafts (2003-09) without taking an offensive lineman in the first two rounds, the longest such streak by any franchise this century.

he can't be worse.
but i think where Allen will really help us a lot is on KO return teams, that was a huge team weakness that may have cost us a couple of games last year.
I saw in another thread that it was reported that the Steelers & Ryan Clark came to terms. Did we sign Clark back and Will Allen to replace Ty Carter????? If both of those are true, I am pretty stoked up about those signings.
Prtty sure when Ryan Clark was brought over most on here were not that excited by the prospect.
Allen is a younger version of Clark, and one that has worked in Tomlin's defense before.
Chadman will say it right now- the FS job is his to lose.
Apparently he has already lost it!
Exactly. Will Allen replaces Tyrone Carter.
I'm a little disappointed we won't be looking at Earl Thomas or Chad Jones. But, I like Clark as a person and a player.
I'm not disappointed at all, maybe we can now use that pick to select a good CB to challenge Gay or an ILB to eventually replace Farrior.
Remember that Earl Thomas is better suited to play cornerback than safety, so he could still be considered with our first pick. NFLDraftScout.com has him rated as the 2nd best CB.
