Personally, I rejoice when players I like run poor 40 times at the combine. That means I can get a good football player at a good value (perhaps Myron could be had with a comp pick at the end of the 5th round). If he ran a great 40 time, then some other team would be seduced by that number and would draft him too early (like, say, the third round).

Being able to run 40 yards fast out of a sprinter's stance in shorts does not mean that you would be better able to turn your hips and shadow a guy downfield while wearing full pads in an actual game situation and make a play on the ball. To me, a 40 time is one of the lowest-priority criteria that could be used to evaluate a prospect (but then again, I am not Al Davis).

I totally agree with you.....if the guy had of gone out and run a 4.55 or 4.6 average time that would have been sweet....but the guy ran times that would have been beaten buy a whole lot of linebackers.
