    Re: Which safety...

    wow that's a good question...
Lake was an exceptional player, and I don't know if ANY of them are like Lake.
maybe major wright (I know, I'm a homer). but the kid can hit AND cover. I'll be honest I don't know alot about mays so, I won't talk about him though he definetly looks the part.

I would have to say........"none"...since Carnell was a LB at UCLA. But as far as the undersized college LB I'd say Darryl Washington.

UCLA football: Carnell Lake out as Bruins cornerbacks coach

Carnell Lake, UCLA cornerbacks coach, will not return next season for family reasons, a source inside the program said.

Lake, a former Bruins and Pittsburgh Steelers player, spent one season coaching at UCLA. He inherited a young cornerback unit, with Alterraun Verner the only player with extensive playing time, and then lost its second best player, Aaron Hester (fractured tibia), during the season opener.

Taylor Mays. I'd be happy with him and Troy together.

The initial basis for this post was to define which safety in the upcoming draft was similar to Carnell Lake from the perspective of overall inherent athleticism and subsequent ability to transcend positioning. Since Carnell Lake played tailback in high school, linebacker and kick-returner in college, and both cornerback and safety in the NFL, he was obviously multifaceted... perhaps more than a mere undersized linebacker.

Uh, nobody. I wish there was somebody like that but he had a rare talent to be able to play monster back in college, pro bowl level safety in the NFL and then due to injuries on the team moved to corner and played at a pro bowl level.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

              but Go Steelers!!!

Ok with that I think the only safety in this draft who has that athleticism would be Earl Thomas. Thomas can play all three secondary positions and he can play them at a high level.

Now as far as players making the switch from LB in college to SS in the NFL as Lake innitially did I think Daryll Washington could as well as this guy right here...

In actuality, my original post was so poorly written that it was open to almost any interpretation. But, notwithstanding this lack of clarity, I do feel that this years draft has some top-notch safeties that might prove to be extremely valuable. It will be interesting to see what happens at this year’s combine.
