    1) The Steelers may end up drafting the best O-lineman in this entire draft at 18 anyways in Mike Iupati. This guys could be better than Faneca.

    2) This is what I personally hope happens.

Willie Colon, Pittsburgh Steelers (27) – Restricted FA

    Player with FOUR Accrued Seasons

Right of First Refusal — $1,176,000
Right of First Refusal + Pick in player’s original draft round — $1,176,000*
Right of First Refusal + Second-Round Draft Pick — $1,759,000*
Right of First Refusal + First-Round Draft Pick — $2,521,000*
Right of First Refusal + First- AND Third-Round Draft Picks — $3,168,000*

    ...think about it.

    No trade necessary.
Iupati looks like he could potentially be a beast in the run game, but didn't his hold-o-rama in the Senior Bowl in pass protection give you pause when considering using the 18th overall pick on a guard from Idaho?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I would give up any two offensive players not named "Ben" for Clady in a second.
Great players can be found all over the draft except for OTs.
How many great OTs in recent years have been "sleeper" picks?

Wallace is proof you can get a receiver no matter where you draft.

You will NEVER get a Clady that late in the draft.

Heck we could have drafted the best available tackle for the past decade at our spot and not gotten as good a Tackle.

Denver wouldn't even bite given the offer.

Elite tackles don't fall very often.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I agree with you. I was thinking of saying Starks and Wallace plus a draft pick..I dunno, maybe a 3rd or so...for Clady, Long, or Thomas, since I don't think that those teams would even pick up the phone if they knew that we were offering only Starks and Wallace, because they would understand the scarcity of truly elite tackles. But something told me that if I just said Starks and Wallace, that most of the folks on this board would hesitate to want to give up Wallace no matter what, even to get a rare talent like one of those 3 guys (who look like they could be the Jonathan Ogden, Walter Jones, and Orlando Pace of this generation).

Max Starx has the potential to be good at his position. Wallace has the potential to be elite. Clady is 'The Man' at his position and the others arent far behind. Realized talent trumps potential every time. For that reason, of course we make the trade...if anyone was willing to partner with us that is. Now what if Clady had missed a third of his games the last few years, kind of like Troy. Would you make the trade then?

Maybe 25+ but not 40+. A good number of the sacks Ben takes are because someone is in his face at the snap of the ball. Sometimes they get him right away and sometimes they get him as he's trying to get away and make something happen.

By far the lowest number of sacks that he takes are the ones where he's extending the play forever. By far.

To answer the question, no, I would not trade Wallace. He looks like he's going to be very special.
even when ben had 3 first round picks on the line, a second rounder at tackle and 3rd at rt he took 45.. so what makes you think only 25?
which one of those 3 #1 draft picks was known for his pass blocking?

not even faneca was known for that and he was an all pro.

using simmons as an example after he was waived a couple years later doesn't really strenthen your side.

none of then were, but if you remember, the way we used them wasn't ridiculously stupid either. how many times did cowher put them 5 wide and expect the o-line to pass protect forever? he and whiz used them to their strengths. and simmons was a hell of a blocker until he lost all of weight and strength after he was diagnosed with diabetes.

Bens play makes a dfference, but our line is not very good either. You cant make a trade without giving up something of real value.

The trade will never happen because our getting an elite tackle for so little will never happen.
