    Typical Ben, underthrows his receiver.

Big Ben was born for the clutch!!!

Ironically, Flutie's miracle pass hurt Miami. Ben's miracle pass helped Miami.

          nah, new to me too.

not that, that is saying much.

it looks like he throws the ball from the 27 or 28 yard line...

and it is first touched at about the 5 yard line.

all in all probably very close to 70 yards in the air... which is flipping ridiculous.

No, I had not seen that either. Living in SW Ohio I remember watching Ben in 2003 and telling my son that I hoped the Steelers would be able to draft this kid playing QB for Miami. Needless to say I was ecstatic, I mean jumping around the room ecstatic, when they announced the Steelers had selected Ben

I remember jumping around the room for 3 picks...Holmes...Ben and Mendenhall. But, of course I enjoy jumping around the room on draft day.

                Re: Flutie who?

I have seen that video before, and I thought of Stewart to Westbrook before I thought of Flutie to Phelan (even though the videos of Flutie and Ben were both right-to-left, while the video of the Kordell throw in the Colorado-Michigan game was left-to-right).

As for immediate emotion during a draft, my most joyous reactions recently were for Ben, Heath, and Mendenhall in the first round, and Woodley and Sweed in the second round (I would have picked every one of those guys if I were in the war room at that time). I was not nearly as excited about the Timmons and Hood picks (I was hoping for Adam Carriker and Alex Mack with those picks, but both were gone by the time we chose). As for Troy and Santonio, I liked both players and were pumped that we got them, but the jubilation was not as high as it was for Ben, Heath, and Mendenhall, because I was also concerned about whether or not we gave up too much in order to move up to draft those guys (and since I didn't think we'd have a shot at getting either of those, I was not as emotionally invested in them as prospects during the pre-draft period).

It is interesting to look back and see what those picks we traded for Troy and Santonio turned out to be.

In 2003, we gave up 1.27 (RB Larry Johnson), 3.92 (CB Julian Battle), and 6.200 (QB Brooks Bollinger) in order to get 1.16 (SS Troy Polamalu).

In 2006, we gave up 1.32 (Matthias Kiwanuka), 3.96 (LB Gerris Wilkinson), and 4.129 (OT Guy Whimper) in order to get 1.25 (WR Santonio Holmes).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wow. Take out Mendenhall and substitute Polamalu and this was EXACTLY how I felt about all of those picks. I admit to giving the nod to Phillip Rivers, but I thought just as much of Roethlisberger and it was the most thrilled I'd ever been for a draft pick.

As far as Polamalu...I called the shot :P . I was still on the radio back then and we used to do these mock drafts each year. As the "GM" for the Steelers, I couldn't make the pick because no trades were allowed, but I was adamant that we would make the move on draft day and get him. It was rather bold considering we had never drafted a safety with our first pick and if I remember correctly, we had never moved up in the first round at that point in team history either.

By the way, if I had ever seen the Ben video before, I certainly don't recall it.

                            Re: Flutie who?

Sometimes I think Football players could take a lesson from soccer players. There's a mentality out there that if I can get my hands on the ball I should no matter what the situation. Soccer players do "dummies" all the time where a ball is coming right them and instead of putting a touch on it, the let it ride at the last moment into some space where they have figured out it gives a good chance to roll to another player streaking in-stride.

The defender who deflected the ball up was the deepest player on the field. He also had the visibility to know he was deepest. All he had to do was get out of the way at the last second. Game over. Sometimes the best "play" is the non-play.

I think that there are rules against comparing Steelers football to soccer on this board. jk

Great vid. I haven't seen a Tom Brady one yet. Anyone?

The memorable Manning one was of him walking off the field after losing to Miami again.

                              Hmmm.
