Chargers Shopping Antonio Cromartie....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4920302

Question??? Wouldnt he be better than William Gay? And wouldnt he provide immediate help...unlike waiting on a draft pick to develop? Throw out what you know of him as an unwilling tackler and ask yourself would he or wouldnt he be better on the right side than what the Steelers currently have? And do the Steelers really need him to tackle anyway? Dont they need some one who can simply cover?

I'm not advocating this...however..if a simple second round draft pick is the solution to adding an immediate starter at RCB then my question to the board is...why not?? This man in the past 3 years has more picks and passes defensed than Gay or Taylor will have in a lifetime.

I'm just sayin'.

I think every Cromartie post on any MB should be followed by this from now on...

Talk about "Jake-ing" it. That was absolutely pathetic. I saw that play live and couldn't believe the lack of effort. He is a perfect player for that under-achieving bunch of hacks. The Chargers will never win anything with players like that on their team.

Yes he is an improvement over Gay but not for the price he will want.

We had a thread on this about three weeks back. I would trade a second for Cromartie, and then I would make sure that Harrison, Hines & Co. "educate" him on the fine art of physical football. I think he would be fine in Black and Gold.

Antonio Cromartie could learn a thing or two about tackling from Jeff Reed.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Two things----

One he is not a free agent (shawn)...he can be had by trading a draft pick ( I think no higher than a 2nd)

And two--for those bringing up his no tackling approach consider this...

he had 15 INT's and 37 PD's in the past 3 years.

When did I say he was a free agent? I'm talking about his contract...4 years ago he signed a contract for 5 years and a little over 12 million dollars. How much do you think he will want for his next contract? Too much for his skill set. That much I know.

Well then he wouldn't fit into our secondary "type"!!

He’s under contract for 2010 and that is all I care about. I’d exchange that for a super bowl win.
Shawn what would Steeler fans think of him and extending his contract if he came in next season and picked say 7 INT’s and the Steelers won another championship?

I'd rather sign Karlos Dansby to be the second coming of James Farrior over trading a high draft pick for Cromartie. Neither will happen, though.

I’m high on him because he is as you say…he's better than Gay. I personally think that having him along with a healthy Troy and Aaron Smith gives the Steelers a better chance of winning a super bowl. Think about this...Cromartie has never played with the talent on defense the Steelers have and he has never played for a coordinator like Lebeau. A change of venue and with this type of defense could bring the best out of him.

And he could be had for a draft pick. What second round pick at number 52 is going to come right in and start?

Possibly...I agree he would be better than what we have. It would also free up a draft pick. My concern would be his contract and if it would keep us from re-signing our vets.
