Cardinals talking contract with Ken Whisenhunt

Ken Whisenhunt has accomplished plenty, but getting the Bidwell family to talk contract extension may be his most impressive achievement yet.
Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic broke the news that the Cardinals and Whisenhunt are looking to build on his current deal. Both sides declined to comment.
The Cardinals hold a team option in 2011, the final year of Whisenhunt's contract. Somers points out that the team hasn't extended a head coach's contract since arriving in Arizona.
Signing the head coach to a competitive deal -- which he's earned -- would be another sign these are no longer the same old Cardinals.
