    Lockout Question

Does anyone know how a potential lockout would effect contract length for the players. Yes they don't get paid but does the contract advance to the next year or does it just pick up where it left off when the lockout began. This could be an issue for future signings. I would hate to sign a quality player and then have the lockout significantly reduce the length of the effective contract.

I don't think it has an impact on players that are currently under contract. Some players may not want to sign future long term deals in hopes of collecting big pay days without a salary cap.

So nobody out there really has an answer to this question? I would want anyone we draft to take less than a 6 year contract if the terms advance independent of a work stoppage. With our rookies not seeing the field quickly we could run into a situation in which we train up our talent showcase it for only a couple years only to have it walk after contract 1.

Every team faces the same situation.

Yes every team faces the same issue but the question still remains. Also depending on how we structure contracts this year we could be in a better position to capitalize on the back end of the lockout.

The rules state that only the top 16 picks in the first-round can sign six-year deals. Those in the bottom half of the round can only sign deals with a maximum length of five seasons. Any player picked after the first round can't sign a deal longer than four seasons.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
