Giants cut ties with Antonio Pierce

The New York Giants' defensive housecleaning is picking up steam.

A month after defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan was let go, the team cut defensive captain Antonio Pierce Thursday, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Woman: "Sir, what have you given us?"
Benjamin Franklin: "A Republic, madam, if you can keep it."

He has a bulging disc in his neck, which caused him to miss the last month-and-a-half of the 2009 season, and was not worth the nearly $5 million they would have owed him for 2010.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Or as Steve Levy on Sportscenter so eloquently put... a bulging "Lebeau" (only replace his last name with his first)

Wouldn't that be more of a female problem? Typically speaking?

If she has a bulging LeBeau in her neck, then he's doing it wrong.

Maybe not...depending on Lebeau's gifts and well, the females gifts as well.

But what I was referring to was about 10-15 years ago, I watched, live, the episode of Sportscenter where Steve Levy was trying to say a player had a bulging disc in his neck but it did not come out that way. Him and the other anchor lost it for pretty much the rest of the show. It was classic, and usually gets played in the "greatest sportscenter moments" shows they run, but bleeped obviously. And its great that even in the present, I hear anchors or their radio hosts somehow make a reference to that every so often. It must be classic folklore in the hallways of ESPN.

Change the names to Bears and Brian Urlacher and you'll have next offseason's headline...
