    Dunta Robinson

    I see this guy listed as an unrestricted free agent. Sporting News calls him a Best Buy at the position. Do you think he would be out of our price range? They say he has great agility and closing speed to be a shut down corner, that he has a knack for jumping routes but just hasn't put up the stats recently. To me that sounds like Ike. He has also missed some games to injury.

    What do you think? Will we go after him? Should we?

      Rumors are that the Texans offered him $23 million guaranteed on a long term deal, and he turned it down, playing last year under the franchise tag number instead. The corner who was picked one spot ahead of Ben Roethlisberger in the 2004 draft could still be franchised yet again. But to answer your question, if he is free (which I doubt), he would be looking for some huge coin, since he would be one of the few young, talented guys available on the open market that is not restricted.

          I also seem to remember that he ranked near the bottom of the league last year in yards given up per pass attempt. I may be thinking of somebody else, but I thought it was him.

              Starting cornerbacks are going to come with hefty price tags...If we signed Dunta we would not be able to sign any of our own free agents. I like the idea though.

                  Yes for 6 million per year. No for the 8 or 9 million he'll want.
                  Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

                      Maybe he always wanted to be a Steeler and he'll give Pittsburgh a discount. Give his agent a call.

                          John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans may place the franchise tag on impending free-agent CB Dunta Robinson in hopes of working out a long-term deal.

                              No Franchise Tag For Dunta Robinson

                              The Houston Texans are willing to let cornerback Dunta Robinson test the free-agent market, choosing not to place the franchise tag on him for the second straight year, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

                              The Texans tried to work out a contract extension with Robinson but when talks stalled the team decided not to use the franchise tag. When Houston used the franchise tag on Robinson last year, the cornerback was paid $9.96 million for the 2009 season after he signed his tender.

                              Robinson, who is the Texans' career interceptions leader with 13, started all 16 games for Houston last season.

                              Robinson was a first-round pick from South Carolina in the 2004 draft. Many regard him as the top cornerback on the market along with New England's Leigh Bodden, who also will not be tagged.

                              KRIV-TV in Houston first reported that Robinson wouldn't receive the franchise tag.
