Steelers hire new pro scouting coordinator

The Steelers hired a new pro scouting coordinator and they found him in one of their favorite talent spots.

Brandon Hunt replaces Doug Whaley, who left the Steelers to become assistant general manager of the Buffalo Bills. Hunt, a Pine Richland High School graduate, becomes the third graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania to fill the position.

Previously, IUP grads Tom Donahoe and Tom Modrak served as the team's pro scouting coordinators. Hunt started four years at IUP at guard and center from 2000 to 2003. After serving as a graduate assistant at the college, he joined the Steelers as a scouting intern in 2005 and 2006.

He has been a pro scout for the Houston Texans the past two seasons.

Local guy, he's been with the team before as an intern (even though that was back in the Cowher days rather than the Tomlin days, scouting interns report to Colbert rather than the coach, so he should still be well known in the scouting department). Plus several years as a full-time scout in Houston gives him reasonable experience in the league. I wonder which Texans are impending free agents, since guys like this tend to show interest in players from their former employer.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

      Restricted Free Agents
      WR David Anderson
      T Rashad Butler
      DE Earl Cochran
      TE Owen Daniels
      TE Joel Dreessen
      DE Stanley McClover

      Unrestricted Free Agents
      SS C.C. Brown
      TE Mark Bruener
      CB DeMarcus Faggins
      SS Nick Ferguson
      T Scott Jackson
      LS Bryan Pittman
      CB Dunta Robinson
      FB Cecil Sapp
      C Chris White
      DB Jimmy Williams
      FS Eugene Wilson
      DT Jeff Zgonina

Jeff Zgonina!!!?!?! He's been around forever, geesh! And wow, blast from the past, Mark Bruener, didn't even know he was on a roster.

Dunta Robinson is unrestricted. He'd be the only one I would even look at on that list...but I know that dude is looking to get paid...so likely finding a corner in the draft, to me, would be a more optimal solution.

We should try and get CB Faggins to backup CB Gay.
