Just my opinion, but this type of "tough guy" attitude totally misses the point. The reason rugby players aren't all dead is precisely because they DON'T wear all of the pads of NFL players.

There's an element of self-preservation in Rugby because you're not wearing a helmet and shoulder pads. You won't launch yourself head-first at another human being if neither of you are wearing what amounts to full-body armor.

There is a sentiment out there that one way to reduce concussions and head injuries is to remove the facemask from the helmets. That way, guys won't lead w/the head and learn how to make a form tackle instead.

IMO, the extra protective gear makes NFL players fearless and THAT is what's leading to an increased amount of head injuries.
I agree with you. Tory Aikman talked about removing helmets as the best way to reduce concussions:

"For years," he writes, "I've said the best way to eliminate head injuries is to take away helmets. Players would be a lot less willing to jump in and stick their heads in if their noggins weren't protected.

I agree, its stupid. It will look ridiculous if all the players at the line of scrimmage are standing up. NFL will suffer a massive loss of interst in a hurry. I would also be more in favor of eliminating helmets. The fact that I dont wear a helmet on my bike makes me careful as hell doing it!

I don't care how it looks, it's just a dumb idea.

              We'd convert more short yardage.

I think this would benefit the offense significantly. And runner would get more yards per carry because the Dline couldn't get the surge forward from a 2 point stance.

Teams may have to change their defensive philosophies. You may be better off with more LBs (more speed) in the box than DLinemen.

Hmmm, what about the 4 point stance?
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

                but Go Steelers!!!
