Re: Offensive Line Coach Larry Zierlein Fired

Tomlin may want to consider firing or demoting Ray Horton as well....

I hate to see anyone out of a job, but not only did the main backups play poorly, the younger players (Gay, Lewis, Burnett, Mundy) played with poor technique for the most part...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Rumor has it that he was but unfortunately he never got it, it went to all the NFL execs by accident.

It was a picture of a lingerie model wearing a pink slip.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Re: Offensive Line Coach Larry Zierlein Fired

One of the major bones of contention with Zeirlein was that he was never willing to consider Willie Colon to be a guard, stating that he was a tackle only. Although Craig Wolfley defended such a stance, believing that Colon was better suited to tackle than guard, my eyes still show me that Colon is built like a guard, has the demeanor to play on the interior, struggles when out on an island, etc. Even Zeirlein's own son was talking about Colon as a guard in the same blog post in which he was lamenting his father's firing.

I think Colon will never be more than an adequate tackle at best, but he seems to possess the qualities that make for a Pro Bowl type guard. With a new o-line coach coming in, do you think that he will be more open-minded about this if we are able to draft, say, a Bryan Bulaga in the first round (I expect Okung, Campbell, and Davis to be gone before we get to #1 or a perhaps even a Ciron Black in the second round? Kemoeatu and Colon would make a heck of a pair of mauling guards, in my opinion.

Sounds good Ruthless- but how about using what is already on the roster- Ramon Foster to RT?
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

                Light up the darkness.

Essex could be a possibility but I believe they see him more valuable as the jack of all trades back up. That might change with a new Oline coach.

Any ideas on who the new OL coach might be? Is there anyone that might be promoted from within or is this simply an excercise in looking elsewhere?
