I think he was in for a visit pre-draft.

The Steelers are in trouble at the WR position. I'd love to know exactly what happened to Sweed. This would have been his time to prove he can catch on a consistent basis.

Perfect chance to see the field at WR for Sweed. I agree Pap. I'm curious why so hush.

It was a 'non-football' illness and I am wondering if it was something mental. Just way too little details forthcoming. Wondering if he turned into a head case with depression or worse thoughts....he is young, hope he can work it out.

First Vince Young, now Limas Sweed? If that's the case, the Texas Longhorns locker room from a couple of years ago must have been like getting Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Scatman Cruthers, etc. back together again. Mack Brown must have played the Nurse Ratched role.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Here's hoping that Sweed can experience the same kind of career resurgence next year in Pittsburgh that Young is experiencing this year in Tennessee...

Head case or not, VY has looked pretty freaking good going 7-1 in 8 starts so far this season...

Mack Brown's offense in Texas is so non-prostyle, I'm not surprised that it is taking their former stars some time to adapt to the NFL game...not just VY, but look at Cedric Benson in Cincy...

I sincerely hope that Sweed can perform for his current team like Young as opposed to another team like Benson...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Here are his receiving stats at Louisana-Lafayette (proof that players from that school can actually catch. Yes, I'm looking at you, Swaggin'!)

                2008 46 catches for 656 yards (14.3 avg) 7 TD's
                2007 36 catches for 442 yards (12.3 avg) 2 TD's
                Career 82 catches for 1098 yards (13.4 avg) 9 TD's

All indications show that he is a better special teams player (both return man and on coverage teams) than he is a WR, though, so he could be a potential ST contributor that we can bring to camp with us next year.

                  According to nfldraftscout:

---the speedster is a great special-teams player and return specialist who emerged as a very good receiver in 2008. He will likely have to make a team via free agency...

Panthers had him on their PS for a while...

So does it make sense to put him back deep along side Logan on KOs instead of Carey Davis? I'd like to see us go with 2 speedsters on KOs. And I wonder if his size could make him better in coverage than Logan?

I wouldn't mind seeing us tinker with 2 returners on punts too. It's not like we're great at blocking on returns.

Actually it is surprising how awful we are at blocking on returns. Seems our guy is almost always hit within 5-10 yds of receiving the ball. And it's not like they are missing the holes because in games I have seen, there were no holes. The long returns happen only after initial contact.

He's on the practice squad, not the active roster. We've been using Burnett back there with Logan recently, not Davis.
