    Meaningless milestones, but interesting nonetheless

    Looking at this you would think our record would be much better. Just emphasizes the offense has not been the primary culprit of this miserable season although at times they have been acessories to the crime.

    * WR Hines Ward, 33, needs 57 yards receiving for his sixth 1,000-yard season.

    * WR Santonio Holmes recorded his first 1,000-yard receiving season in his fourth in the NFL. He has 1,080 yards and improved his average to 15.4 yards per catch.

    * TE Heath Miller needs three more receptions to own the single-season record for Steelers tight ends. Eric Green caught 63 in 1993.

    * RB Rashard Mendenhall, in his second season, needs 60 yards for his first 1,000-yard rushing season.

    * QB Ben Roethlisberger needs 654 yards passing in his final three games to become the franchise's first quarterback with 4,000 yards in a season.

    But we all know that Mendenhall is a bust and dances around too much. He should have 2000 yards in his second season.

          This is the hing with Arians' offences- they are always really good at pumping out stats.

          And it's the thing that Chadman can't figure- how do they get so much production, but can't put up scores on Oakland, KC & Cleveland?

          Never been one to call for Arians' head. But, with the way the Steelers have collapsed, changes need to be made.

          They need to become more 'ruthless' on offense & pile up points, not just yards. If Arians can get that happening, Chadman is happy for Bruce to stick around.
          The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

          Light up the darkness.

              Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

              Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

              We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

              We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                  Looking at the trends, the offense looks to be as much to blame as the defense. The offense is declining at a rate of -5.6 yds/wk while the defense is surrendering at a rate of +3.3 yds/week. The passing offense has been on a long slide for several weeks (losing at a rate of nearly -8 yds/wk). Yes, the rush game is improving (+2.3 yds/wk) but it is not improving as quickly as the slide in the pass game.

                  Also interesting to note that the pass defense has actually been improving while rush defense has been on a slide since A. Smith went on IR.







                  While we can blame individual losses on a particular play or person, I believe over time it is the schemes which determine the trends. In that case, neither Arians nor LeBeau should feel comfortable with where they are at.

                      Dude...way too much free time on your hands. I do agree that ouir schemes are the problem, e.g. one back and no back offense and 3-4 defense.

                          These graphs look too sophisticated for me... :P

                          I was never a BA basher but i think time has come for a change...Chan Gailey or Gary Kubiak are better hire as OC i think.

                          No back offense on 3rd downs needs to go. Incorporate Sweed in the O.

                          Defensive schemes need to be changed. Enough of this 10 yards cushion plays and prevent D. Steelers CBs need to make some freaking play.

                          Trade Ike Taylor and maybe get draft picks for him. Package those draft picks and draft Eric Berry a.k.a Ed Reed.
