IMO this guy is the best player in the game right now. The only thing keeping him from MVP is the fact that he's not a QB and his name isn't Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, or Drew Brees.

Or it could be the fact that the 3 QB's you mention have a combined record of 32-1, while Johnson's Titans started out the season at 0-6.Originally posted by SteelAbilityIMO this guy is the best player in the game right now. Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus. -

IMO the W/L is important but overrated a bit. It takes a team to W/L. Like that 59-0 loss to the NE. Can't put that Johnson. Their D also gave up 34 (Hou), 37 (Jax), and 31 (IND).
If the 0-6 Titans come back and make the playoffs at 10-6 and Johnson gets to 2K yards, with his YPC anywhere close to the off-the-charts 6.4 it is at right now, I think the case for MVP is very strong. It's not just the total yards. 6.4YPC is absolutely unheard of for that volume of carries (about 20 per game for an entire season).
He also has about 300 receiving yards, I believe.Comment

5 weeks ago adrian peterson was the best back, now its johnson, they each willl be really good for 5 more years and than hit the running back wall and someone else willl come along that will be the next great back.....Comment

Re: Chris Johnson on pace for 2030 yards
I don't know dude. It's pretty hard to argue with 6.4 YPC. That's an AVERAGING statistic, which tend to be way less deceiving than total statistics. Barry Sanders, whom many consider the best pure runner of all time had a career average of 5.0 with his best year in '97 at 6.1 YPC where he rushed for 2053 yards. In other words, Johnson is performing at THAT level.Originally posted by JTP536095 weeks ago adrian peterson was the best back, now its johnson, they each willl be really good for 5 more years and than hit the running back wall and someone else willl come along that will be the next great back.....
Tennessee's remaining schedule ...
IND (15th ranked run D)
STL (28th)
MIA (12th)
SD (21st)
SEA (18th)
Average run D rank is about 19th. I'd be surprised if Johnson doesn't break Sanders' record.Comment

Re: Chris Johnson on pace for 2030 yards
Yep we could have had Johnson. I think the fact that we had FWP made us opt for Mendenhall going for a power-back to complement the speed of Parker. Mendy ain't half-bad either, averaging 5.0 per carry.Originally posted by NotleadpoisonedI like Mendenhall and all but the fact that the Titans grabbed Chris Johnson one pick after Mendy in the 2008 draft makes me ponder all of the "what ifs" associated with hindsight.Comment

Re: Chris Johnson on pace for 2030 yards
If Brees doesn't win the MVP something is wrong. Where would the Saints be without him? He is imo the best QB in the league, and he just one upped Marsha which I thoroughly enjoyed. Chris Johnson is a beast but I think Vince has sparked that team also.Comment

Let's not get into the "if" game, cuz it will only serve to depress me. Like, if we took Revis (instead of Timmons)... or if we took Marino in '83...Originally posted by NotleadpoisonedI like Mendenhall and all but the fact that the Titans grabbed Chris Johnson one pick after Mendy in the 2008 draft makes me ponder all of the "what ifs" associated with hindsight.I wasn't hired for my disposition.Comment

I think Revis went one spot before we picked that year.Comment

Re: Chris Johnson on pace for 2030 yards
Can't really say we missed Johnson when every other team ignored him as well. This guy is amazing and he runs like the guys on Madden do... They amount of speed, power and agility... Dude gains 2 yards when he cuts and he has a skip to my Lou shiftyness.
He is like Warrick Dunn when he was in college.Steelers 27

A great RB out of my alma mater, ECU. Give you all a hint, there's another player that'll be coming out that might be better than CJ. Except this one is a WR/ KR/ Slash type that can do it all.
