If I am guilty of anything it is bringing up whether or not Tomlin got the job over Whisenhunt because of the Rooney Rule. I also think the Rooneys would have been called hypocrits if they created the rule, and on the first opportunity to replace their head coach, they didn't hire a minority. I personally think the Rooney's were pigeon holed into this hire.

Black, White, Brown, Red or Chinese Tomlin blows as a head coach. A few more losses and no playoffs I fully expect a few of you guys to come around.
Calling out a poster that isn't even involved in the discussion is bad form. You did it at the Tavern as well and "Stlrz d" doesn't even post there (to my knowledge). I don't agree with some of his opinions, but I don't call him out when he's not involved in the debate.

If he joins in and you want to let him have it, feel free, but, it's lame to attack anyone when they aren't even part of the discussion.

This statment is calling someone out? If I was going to call him out I wouldn't be so nice.

    Go cry me a river.

No one is telling me anything. How many fans have a problem with the Rooney rule? You seem to be the only one that has an issue with the rule. I can't think of any other fans that had an issue in regards to that rule.

If I remember correctly, Whiz took the job in AZ before the organization made their decision. What if the decision ultimately came down to Whiz's and Ben's dislike for one another? What if Cowher suggested the not hire Whiz? I guess we will never know.

Tomlin blows as a head coach? I wonder how someone reaches that conclusion with such a small sample size. One thing is certain, Tomlin has gotten off to a pretty go start to his coaching career. Time will tell if he can help the organization maintain a high level of consistency. It is to soon to be critical of Tomlin. You make yourself look foolish after the guy just helped the organization win another SB.

        Bump.

"I understand that if we allowed Ben to play that we'd be open to questions in regards to that. I thought that if we didn't allow Ben to play, that we'd be open to questions in regards to that. Really, it was irrelevant in terms of my decision making. I was more concerned about doing what was right. Medical experts suggested he not play, so we didn't play him."

Should we even care what Ben thinks? He was under contract and he plays for whoever is hired end of story. Do you really think every player on their current team likes their coach? How many of us everyday people like our boss? It just comes with the territory. And yes, Whiz did leave for AZ but probably wouldn't have if the Rooney's weren't dragging their feet through the mud trying to find that minorirty to hire to make themselves look good because they created the Rooney Rule. Whiz's qualification were no less then Tomlin's. He was already part of the Steelers and would have been an easy transition instead we felt a need to hire Tomlin. I don't get it and probably never will. Plus, who cares what Cowher thinks on who should or shouldn't be the next head coach. If he was that concerned about the Steelers he should have honored the last year of his contract.

Like you said only time will tell about Tomlin and right now I don't see him coaching the Steelers for a very long time if we keep underachieving.

We all know your history with him, you're calling him out and it's easy to see. Wait for him to show up and debate him or chastise him or try to embarrass him, but do it like a man and not when he isn't even involved in the discussion. That's weak.

Tomlin wasn't interviewed because of the Rooney Rule. The team had already interviewed Ron Rivera, so they did not have to interview anymore minorities after that. They were simply looking for the best man for the job...skin color be damned.

And you talk about an "easy transition" with Whisenhunt if he were hired. The transition with Tomlin seemed pretty smooth to me, winning a Super Bowl title in his second year over your boy Whiz.

Bringing in new coaching blood provided just enough of a shock to the system of the players to get them out of the complacency rut they experienced in 2006 under Cowher, Whisenhunt, and Grimm, while keeping enough of the former coaching staff to make the transition smooth.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Re: Tomlin gets a free pass this weekend

This is the most ignorant line of thought from a sports fan ever. Vegas, you are a moron extraordinaire.
Your logic is so ludicrous that noone can possibly doubt that you hate Tomlin for being black.

Others have made acceptable arguments for not liking his coaching style or whatever. you clearly are not a real football fan and are here clearly because you are mad the Steelers hired a black coach. Embarrassing for you and you alone.

Congrads Vegas, this is officially the dumbest statement I have ever seen on a sports forum:
"'Or the lack of. We saw Belicheat take his team to 11-5 with a quarterback that didn't start a game since high school. Let's see what Tomlin can do for one game."
