I got a call from Roger Goodell!!!

Unfortunately I forgot my cell phone at home today when I went to work, but good ol' Rog called me and left me a message. I left him a message about the Jeff Dugan TD and mentioned the Hines Ward non-TD on a very similar play.

His message was that this rule is getting a lot of attention from outside the league so it is one they are discussing and will be addressing in the off season. He told me he appreciated the way I presented it to him and that it makes sense for them to look at it.

Whoa...never thought the dude would ever do something like that!

I have to admit that I've generally been impressed with Goodell. Spy-gate was a black eye for him. But otherwise, I like the guy as much as you can like someone whose decisions will generally only be remembered when they are failures. It is very impressive that he called you back.

I was impressed that he took the time to call back as well. I disagree with some of what is happening (more overseas games, over protection of players) but overall I think he's handling things pretty well.

I liked the fact that he said that particular rule is getting a lot of attention from outside the league. Obviously I'm not the only one who sees what a crap ass rule it is.

The "going to the ground" rule needs to be changed, and it's one that can be changed.

I told him about this play being ruled a TD, about the Hines play being overturned and about how this rule is too inconsistent league wide. Mentioned how players can stick out the ball and it is a TD even if it's slapped away instantly, blah blah blah.

Basically I just gave my opinion that this rule needs to go.

You're right.... It IS hard to believe.... But you have texted/PMd/sent stuff to back-up everything you've ever said with regards to past activity so I have no reason to doubt you whatsoever at all... And I'm extremely impressed!

I figured out how to record it and upload it. I didn't think it would come through all that well on my cell's speaker phone, but it did.
