That one gets me too. They talk SOOOO much about Ben's performance in SB XL, but never talk about how he plays LIGHTS OUT in the 3 games leading them to the SB. Completely ridiculous. But whatever. They can have all of the fantasy stats, Ben will take the rings.
I think Ben will be looked upon with much more media love after he retires. In another 10 years!
It's gotten to the point where I start yelling at the TV everytime they bring it up. It would be one thing if he only had above average games in that stretch, but you could argue that he carried the team in the wins over Cincy, Indy and Denver. He flat-out played out of his mind against Denver.
boy am i glad i am not the only one who thinks this, it still boggles my mind that people get on him for that game, your right he played a career game against the broncos and the colts even the bengals, but that super bowl is why he is remembered, oh who won that game anyway...

Now is not the time to be bashing Peyton. Dude is having an absolutely remarkable year.

On one hand, people are giving credit to the Ben for his 73.8 completion percentage, his 1470 yards passing, his 8.5 yards per pass attempt, and his 102.6 quarterback rating, so on the other hand, you cannot criticize Manning when he has a 73.5 completion percentage, 1645 yards passing, 9.1 yards per pass attempt, and a 114.1 quarterback rating. You have to give credit where it is due.

In fact, both Mannings have been having awesome years, leading their respective teams to undefeated records so far (Eli has a 64.4 completion percentage, 1212 yards passing, 9.0 yards per pass attempt, and a 111.7 quarterback rating). And Peyton is doing it with a new coaching staff and no Marvin Harrison (making stars out of guys like Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon), while Eli is doing it without Plax and Toomer (making stars out of the other Steve Smith and Mario Manningham). Just sayin'.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Quite right Ruthless. We can hate the Mannings, Brady and even Brees but when push comes to shove these guys are great QBs. Admitting that in no way takes away from Ben's accomplishments. Even in SB XL when he didn't throw the ball well he did other things to help us win ... like scoring a TD and picking up a couple of huge 1st downs with his feet. People can say what they want about Ben but the guy is a winner and I hope a Steeler for life.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

        but Go Steelers!!!

Anyone else notice that Manning is up for "Air" player of the week?

          He was 36 of 44, 309yds, 3TD's, and 1 INT = 81.8 comp%, 7.0yds/att, 14.6 att/TD, 118.6 QB Rating

          Ben was 23 of 30, 277yds, 3TD's, and 1 INT = 76.7 comp%, 9.2yds/att, 10att/TD, 138.3 QB Rating

Ben may have only had about 90% of the total yards than Peyton, but all in all, executed the passing game much more efficiently than Manning, yet he gets snubbed.

My gripe with Peyton has nothing to do with how good he is . . . he is going to be a Hall of Famer and quite possibly a top three QB of all time. But he is a stats acumulator and when his team is up three TDs in the fourth quarter, and he is still running plays out of the shotgun, I'm calling him out on it. Spare me the "The Colts are a passing team, that's what they do" argument. The game is friggen over, work on your running game. Like I said, if he pulls that stuff against the wrong team, and someone happens to roll into him, I'm going to hold up my beer, and give praise to those who reap what they sow. That's all.

If our coaches allowed Ben to be a "stats accumulator" late in the Bears and Bengals games instead of taking the air out of the ball in those situations, we would likely be 5-0 like the Manning Bros. right now.

i agree with proudpittsburgher on that one, i am not taking away from peyton, he is remarkable, but i hate how ben gets the crap for a poor showing in super bowl XL ALL THE TIME, but the 3 playoff games he was remarkable, and the year peyton won the SB he was average at best, compare the stats of each of their four playoff games...

peyton during his 2006 playoff super bowl run Comp Att Pct Yds YPA TD Int Rating
                97 153 63.4 1,034 6.8 3 7 70.5

big ben during his 2005 playoff super bowl run

Att Comp Pct Yds YPA TD Int Rating
                93 58 62.3% 803 8.63 7 3 101.7

hmmmm, and ben gets slack for the super bowl, but peyton gets blown for tremendous QB work, and last year during our super bowl run his rating was 92....
i messed the look of the stats up, im not good at that sorry...

Accumulate all the stats you want after 3 quarters, but when you have a 31-9 lead with 5 minutes to go, and you are running plays out of the shotgun to get another 300 yard performance for the talking heads to drool over all week, then I cry foul. It's not like he was trying to put the game away, it was "away" midway through the third.
