Well here we go again for another exciting season! Time to once again predict what you think our boys will do on the field of play. I'll be bringing you this thread all season long and into the playoffs!
Last time we met the Titans were able to capitalize on 4 Steelers turnovers to the tune of 21 points. So although our offense moved the ball (Ben passed for 329 yards and we had 23 first downs to their 16) we just weren’t able to protect the ball and score. The defense looked quite generic (I contend that was because the Steelers anticipated seeing the Titans in the playoffs and didn’t want to give the Titans too much on film) and still held Chris Johnson to only 69 yards rushing. That same generic defense allowed Collins to pass for 215 yards and one TD.
I think that changes in this meeting. You know damn well the emphasis will be ball security so as not to have a repeat of week 16. As a result the Titans won’t be the beneficiary of 4 TOs this time and it will be a much different game as a result. The Titans get the 10 points they scored without the TOs (one was an 83 yard pick 6) and the Steelers get the 14 they scored along with 10 more on drives that ended in TOs last meeting.
So the final score will be Steelers 24 – Titans 10. This game sets the tone for the ’09 season and the Steelers send the Titans home whimpering and with multiple welts from Terrible Towel snaps to the ass!
