OT - illegal hit in the Chargers game?

After work last night I watched the Chokers play on NFLN. One of thier rookie safeties put the wood on a reciever from the other team (Seahags?) in the second half, that was so hard that the receiver's helmet went flying. The announcer said that he would get fined for it, and two flags came in for unnecessary roughness. On the replay it was clearly a shoulder to the sternum, with not helmet contact of any type by either player.

Why is this a penalty and why the fine talk?

Because this is, as Troy eloquently put it, the "pansy game" that Roger Goodell has in store for the NFL. This new pro football league they are starting (forget what it is called) might, unfortunately, be a refreshing alternative if Goodell is allowed to change the NFL game such as he has been.

Maybe they should let the WR's catch the ball? Have to wonder how long the players will put up with these rules and fines. Soon they will be putting flag football flags on QB's and WR's.

The new rule states that you cannot lead with your head or shoulder and I think elbow when a receiver is in a defenseless position.

Hmmm ... I wonder what they expect you to lead with? Your feet?
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.
