    This Pic....

is such a true representation of our pass blocking (or lack thereof). Not many QBs in the league could withstand this punishment for an entire season. Kudos to Big Ben, DQ or not!

Note fat Max standing there looking in the background.

Cornelius Griffin is a DT, so that's not even Stark's guy. No doubt Starks had a horrible start to the game last night but he was our most consistent lineman all of last year (which isn't saying a whole lot). Why so many posters continue to use him as the whipping boy is beyond me.

i too dont think starks deserves all the blame he gets. i always thought he was a bum up untill he filled in for marvel. starks was awsome last season, probably the best olineman out of the bunch. of course that isnt saying a whole lot

I didn't post this pic to rag on Starks only. The whole line has been very stinky so far. Charlie was running for his life last night. It's painful to watch this OL at times. If Ben didn't have such awesome improvisation skills, we would be in major trouble. I simply pointed out Starks watching the hit in the background, I didn't blame him for this particular play, but my old high school coach would've chewed some butts for standing around watching . He looked like crap last night and there's no denying that point. The outside speed rush kills him every time.

That may have been Legursky's guy. Max has been one step behind the edge rusher two games in a row. He just needs to get off the line quicker, which is fixable.

I guess it was more about the "Fat" Max comment and the need to point him out vs. the guy who let the DT get by him to steamroll Batch.

Unless there was a stunt, the guy was probably Essex, since Collins lines up in a 3-technique outside the RG. I thought I saw Legursky get the start at LG last night in place of Kemo (although I still don't know why).

Know remember Joos, this is a still shot of Starks (still moving) and not one of those hand-on-his-hips "Arby's" pose (I still love that Photoshop job). Just because his eyes are locked in on that train wreck with Batch doesn't mean that he is necessarily a passive bystander. That said, Starks did get off to a pretty disturbing start last night.

I kind of isolated him a few times after the first couple of plays and saw him do a much better job getting out of his stance (once, I could have sworn that he committed a false start). They did help him with TE chips and double teams from time to time, and he still wasn't able to fully lock on to his man most of the time, but he did settle in.

I couldn't agree more about the speed rush being Starks' main problem. I don't think it kills him every time (after all, he only gave up 4 sacks last year ), but it does seem pretty evident that it's a problem he needs to fix. A lot of folks call Starks fat and slow-footed, but I've seen him fire out of his stance and get his hands on the likes of DeMarcus Ware, Dwight Freeney, or Bertrand Berry, and hold his own. I think he's got the tools (when in shape), but he's pretty inconsistent in applying them.

There wasn't necessarily any need to point out Max here. It was more of a vent on my part. Still, although this hit may have come from the inside, the majority of the pressure was coming from the outside last night. Charlie was having to step up into the pocket very quickly to avoid that outside rush. Max was playing chase to the DE most of the night because of getting schooled on that outside speed rush. One thing I will point out about him in this picture though is that he's on the wrong side of the QB. Why could that be if the inside rush got Charlie here? Well, my guess is that Max probably chased the DE around Charlie, forcing Charlie to step up and take the shot to the chops from the inside rush.

                  Re: This Pic....

For what it is worth, I believe that the "I'm thinking Arby's" classic photoshop picture was of Willie Colon and Kendall Simmons (I don't think Max was a starter when that photoshop was done).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Dude grow a pair. I've been listening to you apologize to this idiots like you did something wrong. It's O.K. to say Max Starks wouldn't be a starter on most offensive lines let alone the defending Super Bowl Champions. We played with fire last year and we dodged a bullet. We decided to try it again and if history repeats itself we are looking at 40+ sacks on Ben and no running game. When Ben finally goes on IR because of one of these sacks someone will have some expaining as to why we didn't upgrade this sorry excuse for an ofensive line.

Not that it necessarily makes any sense - but I'm guess Max takes the most heat because he got paid so much money last year. And we let (arguably) better players like Faneca go when we could have kept him instead of Starks.

                            However that's not Stark's fault - that's (again arguably) the G.M. and Tomlin's fault.
