If its the 1st string that is impressive with Haynesworth, etc in there.
    It was the second stringers.
    Thanks.

I can still be positive and say that he had the second string Steeler oline blocking for him.
No prob, and lets not forget the oh so fast and inhumanly powerful Orakpo was playing with their second team.
The announcers correctly pointed out that the 'Skins have probably the deepest DL in the NFL. Their second team is better than many of the NFL's first team.

Mendenhall did a great job and will better with every game.

I thought Mendy showed a little spark on some plays but you really aren't getting to showcase with only 5 carries. I think (and hope) he is the type of back that gets better the more he carries -- that he wears the D down and starts breaking tackles at the 15 carry mark.

Of course you would have to throw out his longest carry in every game when evaluating him.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

      but Go Steelers!!!

That's right. Any long carry will be a statistical anomoly and should be eliminated. It will be more preferable to see five 3 yard carries versus four 2 yard carries and one 20 yard carry. The 20 yarder is a fluke and should not count.

the long runs are just to pad stats.. they serve no other purpose

I agree. They do not meet the criterion to be counted as part of a traditional Steelers power running game

Thank God we have Willie Parker. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm not impressed at all with Mendenhall.

He hasn't had the chance to impress anyone yet.

You need to recognize the subtle nuances of meta-communication. He was alluding to the fact that Mendenhall eluded someone.
