Breaking Camp--Predict the new faces this season

Still a couple of weeks for someone to show something but here is my take on the new faces we will see:

Veterans/Practice Squad players from last year:
    McDonald, WR
    Mundy, S

    Rookies:
    Hood, DL
Urbik, OL--getting lots of criticism but team won't give up on him after a couple of weeks
    Wallace, WR
    Lewis, CB
    Burnett, CB
    Foster, OL
Summers, RB--get nod over Redman unless injuries slow him down over next couple of weeks.

Will try to get on Practice Squad:
    Harris, DL
    Johnson, TE
    Redman, RB
    McClendon, DL

I'll add that the player I really have a problem figuring out what will happen is capizzi. The guy really seems to be performing and having a great camp.

I'd like to see him make it. I sorta wish that Stapleton had to go to IR.

I also forgot I think Shipley and Legursky both go to PS.

I think Capizzi will make it, with Hills being shown the door.

If I had to guess, I think the OL will look like this:

      LT: Starks
      LG: Kemo
      C: Hartwig
      RG: Essex
      RT: Colon

      Stapelton
      Urbick
      Capizzi
      Foster
      Legursky

PS: Shipley, Hills?? (if he is even eligible)

Capizzi and Stapelton will be the active guys on game day. I think they keep Legursky, with the though that he takes over for Hartwig when his contract expires.

There look to be a lot of tough decisions this year. A lot of promising young guys.

Harris played very well in the first pre-season game, and if he continues to do so, it will be very hard to get rid of him. Kirshke is all but a lock (barring injury), so I think one spot might come down to Eason v. Harris.

I'm not an Eason fan, but he played better last year. He is a dependable if unspectacular veteran, and with a team like the Steelers, there is a delicate balance between winning now and developing guys for the future. I hope Harris wins the spot, but I think that Eason will prevail.

The extra tackle goes to Capizzi, Parquet or Foster.
I have a weird feeling it will be Foster. Hard to get a read on Capizzi cause I haven't seen enough of him and I know there's a haavy bias here for him.

Summers versus Redman. I think Redman was sneaking ahead of him, then Summers got hurt a bit. A nagging injury to boot. Redman wins easily and we will make it look like Summers is injured more than he is, so we can hide him on PS.

I agree that Redman has probably overtaken Summers. I think it is up to Summers to show the coaching staff that he can overtake Davis for the FB spot, and perform as well as Davis on special teams.

We are so deep that I expect we will lose several players who we would like to keep. Its unfortunate, but a good problem to have and a credit to the FO and the young talent they are finding.

I think Foster has been getting more reps at guard than tackle, even though he was a tackle in college. Capizzi appears to be having his best camp so far, and could be a decent swing tackle option. I think Parquet sucks out loud. He had at least 2 penalties in the first preseason game, didn't he?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

i'm with you minus a few exceptions...

in respect to vets / ps players...
                  McDonald agreed
                  Mundy not so sure
                  Ratliff tough one... probably gone

                  Rookies:
                  Hood, DL
Urbik, OL--agreed. he gets one more camp to show improvement before cutting

                  Burnett, CB
                  Foster, OL
Summers, RB-- it's a bit early, but if Redman shows against the redskins what he has recently shown- I think he takes this spot and Summers is on the PS

Will try to get on Practice Squad:
Harris, DL does he make the roster over Eason- no decision yet.

                  McClendon, DL

the real question here is- the team may very well have 9 new players - who gets cut from last years roster to make room??

so we need a total of six
Maddison ???? i think he sticks due to special teams, but that means
                  Tyrone Carter doesnt.
                  two more....
                  Bruce Davis
                  Arnold Harrison
not sure if they can dump two lbs... so one of those two probably makes it

Johnson will make it through to PS but I don't think Redman will. A blocking TE that has questionable receiving skills shouldn't be a premium position.

Veterans/Practice Squad players from last year:
                        McDonald, WR
                        Mundy, S

                        Rookies:
                        Hood, DL
Urbik, OL--getting lots of criticism but team won't give up on him after a couple of weeks
                        Wallace, WR
                        Lewis, CB
                        Burnett, CB
                        Foster, OL
Summers, RB--get nod over Redman unless injuries slow him down over next couple of weeks.

Will try to get on Practice Squad:
                        Harris, DL
                        Johnson, TE
                        Redman, RB
                        McClendon, DL

i'm with you minus a few exceptions...

in respect to vets / ps players...
                        McDonald agreed
                        Mundy not so sure
                        Ratliff tough one... probably gone

                        Rookies:
                        Hood, DL
Urbik, OL--agreed. he gets one more camp to show improvement before cutting
                        Wallace, WR
                        Lewis, CB
                        Burnett, CB
                        Foster, OL
Summers, RB-- it's a bit early, but if Redman shows against the redskins what he has recently shown- I think he takes this spot and Summers is on the PS

Will try to get on Practice Squad:
Harris, DL does he make the roster over Eason- no decision yet.
Johnson, TE does he make the roster over McHugh... early thoughts yes.
                        Redman, RB
                        McClendon, DL

the real question here is- the team may very well have 9 new players - who gets cut from last years roster to make room??

                        hmmmm
                        Parquet PS
                        Hills PS
                        C. Davis? PS
                        Russell already gone
                        as are Foote and McFadden
so we need a total of six
Maddison ???? i think he sticks due to special teams, but that means
                        Tyrone Carter doesnt.
                        two more....
                        Bruce Davis
                        Arnold Harrison
not sure if they can dump two lbs... so one of those two probably makes it

                        tough, tough decisions
What about Capizzi? With Essex starting at RG they need a swing Tackle on game day and he seems to be it.
I missed that one-- do you think they will be able to keep both Capizzi and Foster??

One thing seems certain- many of the guys the Steelers cut, will be picked up by other teams- quickly.

i think if redman can have another game like he did last week summers will be on the ps. i dont understand why they just dont keep both and get rid of davis. id much rather lose davis than either summers or redman.

I'm kinda interested to see what the Joystick can do tonight. I kinda have this feeling he's gonna get a return for a TD.

Anyone think Johnson can take McHugh's spot?
