Whisenhunt left before the Steelers hired Tomlin. He didn't "beat him out".
We got the right guy...get over it already. Would it help if he got that Michael Jackson skin "disease"?
What Michael Jackson wasn't white? Thanks for letting me know that D . I swear if I didn't know better I would say you were black with the way you throw out the race card.
By the way were you in the office of the Rooneys when they interviewed Whiz?
Do you know what was said?
Do you think maybe Whiz asked if he was the front runner for the job and the Ronneys were non-committal?
Maybe Whiz saw the writing on the wall and took the job that he was guaranteed to get before the Rooneys decided and he lost both the Steelers job and the Cardinals job?
In response to his pleas, an officer said: "You think we've never arrested somebody that's made national media? ... We deal with the Bengals all the time."
African American janitors make 2.5 million dollars a year?
Damn...
It’s a ruse run by the City of Pittsburgh. Quite often the poor saps rush in, broom in hand, to sign the contract, but don’t take the time to read the fine print which unequivocally states: “to acquire said money, you must be unanimously respected by both players and fans; AND, you must win a Super Bowl in your second year, shrug off the “Chargers in the playoffs” monkey and beat the Raven three times in one year. Otherwise… 7.50 an hour.
Are you guys serious? I guess Barry Switzer could have asked for 6 million a year too after taking over Jimmy Johnson's team. By the way where is he now?
Keep in mind Tomlin inherited an underachieving Super Bowl team. He was given the best defensive coordinator in the game. It didn't take a genius to keep Lebeau around. He also has a franchise quarterback and stability in the front office. Not alot of new head coaches are awarded that luxury right out of the gate.
Can we at least wait until the time is right before talking extension with Tomlin. Who even knows if the guy is the real deal yet.
I agree Tomlin inherited a SB caliber team. He appears to be a very good leader and HC. There is no question that he is the real deal. You had your doubts about Tomlin since day 1. He helped to take the team to the playoffs his first season. He helped the team win the SB his 2nd season. He is the youngest HC to help his team win the SB. By your continued statements, it appears you will never be sold on Tomlin.
I don't really care what they pay Tomlin. It's not my money. I think they will offer him a fair raise over his current contract. It will be up to Tomlin whether he decides to resign.
Start looking at who started Cowher's last year and who will be starting and on the roster this year and you will see that Tomlin did get a couple pretty stable units like the DL and WR but he has interjected a lot of change into the line up particularly when you look at the back ups who have stepped in and produced.
I don't buy the he inherited this juggernaut of a team.
Juggernaut no, good core of offensive and defensive players to build the rest of the team around yes.

You forget to say and pray Tom Brady goes down with a season ending injury.

It is interesting that the player who was quite possibly the weakest player on Cowher's Super Bowl winning o-line (RT Max Starks who was in his second season in the league and first year as a starter in 2005) was likely the best player on Tomlin's Super Bowl winning o-line (LT Max Starks, who was given the transition tag prior to that season and the franchise tag after that season, which was later eliminated after a long-term extension was signed).
Smith-Faneca-Hartings-Simmons-Starks vs. Starks-Kemoeatu-Hartwig-Stapleton-Colon is a HUGE advantage toward the Cowher side.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

how dare the Rooneys not commit to a coach within the organization....
Cowher was Tomlin when we hired him... he was a nobody to Steeler Nation before we picked him...
I think Whiz being an OC was his biggest hurdle... Rooneys are defense first.

I think I'll reserve prayers for circumstances like costanza's cousin, and I will be happy to beat down the Pats if we happen to meet in the playoffs, whether God's-gift-to-quarterbacking Tom Brady is injured or not.

I often wonder if the people who say Tomlin inherited a great team would say the same if we hired Whiz or Grimm?
unfortunately....I doubt it...
anyone who coached the Steelers is getting a great nucleus of talent.

What I stated was not a knock on Tomlin. I think Tomlin has done a very good job leading this team. Maybe Tomlin did not inherit a juggernaut of a team but a SB caliber team. There were times the backups stepped up and played well. There were times the backups did not play as well as expected.
There were plenty of teams that had a good nucleus of talent in the NFL last year...but only one coach led his team to a SB win...
I don't think that Herm Edwards is a good HC, but he was absolutely right when he said that every team in the NFL is talented...it's just difficult to win...
Tomlin is a winner...
You can say that the Steelers almost lost the SB to a team coached by the guy Tomlin beat out...you could also say that the Cards almost won the SB...
All I know is that Tomlin's teams have won more games in his first two years than any other Steelers coach...and I'm pretty sure I saw him hoisting the Lombardi and not Whiz...
Tomlin knows what Cowher knew...the Rooneys are the best owners in the NFL and the Steelers are the best franchise...I believe Tomlin when he says that he is driven by winning...that being the case, he knows that the Rooneys will be fair in their business dealings with him and that Pittsburgh is the best place to win...
Tomlin knows that it takes an entire organization to win...I don't believe that he will insist upon being the highest paid coach in the NFL, but I do think he will want to be compensated fairly based upon performance...And, I think that the Rooneys will accommodate him...as they should...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.
I throw out the race card based on your posts regarding Tomlin on the long deceased trib forum.
LVG = fail.
The unemployed, don't have a pot to piss in, man has spoken. Listen up folks he knows failure.
stlrz_d has a job.
