    That's exactly where I'd have 'em ranked.

    I remember that '76 season...after a 1-4 start, the team went on a tear and made the playoffs, in spite of having Mike Kruczek in for an injured Terry Bradshaw. That turnaround was mainly because of the superb defense. They were simply dominant, pitching 5 shutouts along the way, IIRC.

    That '76 team lost to the Raiders in the AFCC, mainly because their offense that season was almost totally reliant on their running game, and for that game, both of their top runners, Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier (each 1000-yard rushers), had to sit out the game due to injury.
