    J. Clayton says "Holmes ready"

    For a breakout year...

    2. Santonio Holmes, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: In his final 10 games last season -- including the playoffs and Super Bowl -- Holmes had 39 catches for 628 yards and five touchdowns. With the Steelers' coaches feeling more comfortable letting Ben Roethlisberger have 30-pass games, Holmes should be on target for his first 1,000-yard season and come close to 10 touchdown receptions. Holmes had a career game in the Super Bowl, catching nine passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. The confidence and momentum from that performance will carry over to this season. Roethlisberger will try to get the ball to Holmes at least five times a game, depending on the coverage.

    Well, D'uh...hmmm, let's see

#1 pick a few years back
Steelers like to give theor draft picks 2-3 years to mature
    progressively better each year
    Ward getting older
Came up big in the playoffs and Super Bowl
    high yards per reception
    Ben is the quarterback

Gee, I wonder what his first clue was?

What a load of crap. Ben had to throw the ball more last year because we couldn't run the ball effectively. With Mendenhall, that should change and Ben will go back to passing to get the lead and handing off to Mendenhall to keep the lead. That should lengthen Ben's career and keep our defense fresh.

It was never about the coaching staff not trusting Ben to throw the ball.

Maybe in his rookie season, but definitely not after that.

Holmes the first receiver to be taken in his draft year.
Slowly taken along to learn the system.
          Has Ben as his QB.
Excellent role model and teacher in Hines.

I used to think Claytin was one of the better ones but of late, he seems like he came from the same cloth as the others.

Excellent game winning Super Bowl TD catch by Holmes and not nearly enough credit given to Ben for throwing between three defenders and putting the ball where only Holmes could catch it.

your right ben doesnt get nearly enough credit. he made two amazing passes to holmes and of course only one was caught. part of me thinks ben should of gotten the mvp but holmes did a lot in that drive to set up his last catch

Handing the ball off to Mendenhall ain't going to keep opposing defenses out of the backfield and out of Ben's face since the line may still be porous at best next year.
