Suggs may not play

http://masnsports.com/2009/01/suggs-goo ... -play.html

Suggs: "Good chance" I won't play
By Dan Kolko on January 15, 2009 2:58 PM

Terrell Suggs spoke for over eight minutes about his injured right shoulder today, and from the sound of things, Suggs seems to think that he might miss the first game of his six-year NFL career this Sunday.

Suggs came to the podium at Ravens headquarters wearing a sling on his right arm, and he sounded incredibly depressed, far from his usual jovial tone. After the Ravens' win over the Titans last Saturday, Suggs said that he would definitely play in the AFC title game, but now he seems to be leaning the other way.

"There's a good chance that I possibly won't get to line up and play for the Championship with my team," Suggs said. "And not ever missing a game in the past, to make this one be my first one, it's not something I'm going to be really happy about. But it is what it is, you've just got to do whatever's in your power to get better and to get healthy."

"If I feel that me being out there would hinder us, that we would be playing with 10, then the decision is obvious that I can't go...I could possibly hurt my team by playing if I'm not ready."

Asked what the odds are that he'll be able to strap on the pads and give it a go, Suggs said he wasn't sure.

"We'll have to wait and see on Sunday," he said. "Right now I can't honestly answer the question for you. We'll just have to wait and see. All I can do is work hard and try and get it back healthy."

Suggs said that he's feeling a little bit better than he did after initially suffering the injury, but that he's still fighting through a lot of pain. He said he's getting treatment from the medical staff four or five times a day and will have to see how the shoulder responds.

After initially thinking it was just a bruise, Suggs said he got an MRI on the shoulder early this week, and doctors told him differently.

The team hasn't released any information as to what specifically is wrong with the shoulder, other than initially calling it a shoulder sprain after the Titans game. Today, Suggs said that when looking at the MRI, doctors told him that it could be major ligament damage.

When I asked if doctors said that he could potentially injure the shoulder further if he tries to play through it, Suggs said that's a possibility.

"It's not like food poisoning or nothing like that," Suggs said. "It's my shoulder, and I definitely don't want to mess it up more than it already is. There's a big chance it could get worse, especially in this smash-mouth game. We're not playing Indy, we're not playing a finesse team here. We're playing a team that has the exact identity as us.

"It's going to be a physical game, and they said that there's a chance that you could aggravate it more than it already is, but like I said, we're just going to have to wait and see on [Sunday]."

"I've never missed a game and I definitely don't want to start with the AFC Championship," Suggs added. "So come Sunday, we'll see."

suggsmangina strikes again! Suggs is an UFA next year, he doesn't want Hines causing further damage and risking his chance for the big bucks.

When I see his name listed as out I will believe it. Right now he could be playing possum and he winds up playing a great game. However, my gut tells me he is really hurting.

I agree. I smell a very good possibility of gamesmanship occurring

he is hurt... no way Suggs sits out against the Titans... if he does go it will be a one armed deal and I can't see putting the team in that position.

I've been reading on Ravens forums there are whisperings that he can barely lift his arm to put on a shirt due to the pain.

Sucks for him. But if I remember correctly, didn't Starks actually handle him pretty well in the last matchup?

I guess I need to see the play where he got hurt in Tennessee.

wasn't the play... it was the team doctors and players reactions...

He's also a FA next year and you have to wonder if his agent is telling him to sit out to prevent further injury...just a conspiracy theory of mine...
ours is not to wonder why just invert and multiply...

I wouldn't be surprised if he is able to go. It would be one of those extra boosts at game time like 'Terrell can play...Yeah we set now nickel. We gonna roll up in this house an show these sucka's what we all about nickel. Lets ride dawgs!"

Personally I wish he would play.....now this just adds to the excuse list.
