They're way more important than sacks and I wonder how some players rank for the season.
I found an article that is along the same lines of thinking. Not that they are MORE important than sacks but they are as important. The stats it uses are for 2007.

As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.
but Go Steelers!!!

Very interesting Ben's not the most hit QB given all his sacks. Must mean when he gets hit, he gets sacked. But that seems odd cause I thought Ben made plays after contact???
It's like Wanny is allergic to good QB play...
how do let him get away and stick with Palko?
I think I remember a story about Flacco's HS coach talking a lot of trash about him being weak minded and not being a winner. For some reason though I think his HS coach probably would have won the lottery(fat envelope or a coaching position) if Flacco went to a specific school

While I think they're very important, I think that is an untrue statement.
He's overstressing to make a point. And we wonder why society is messed up.
I think INT's are WAY more important than sacks though.
I'm overstating because my writing skills aren't up to snuff.
Overall QB pressure sacks, hits, hurries, etc. are collectively way more important than just the sack numbers everyone is fixated on. Hopefully that's a little clearer.
I've also wondered about INTs. Are they a cause or an effect?
Is the real issue throwing the ball too much?
If you throw to much, teams will pin their ears back and rush like mad and pressure leads to mistakes/turnovers by the QB.
It's a big cycle that's all inter-related.
What's the leading indicator.
People always point to YPP and turnovers, but something leads to those things happening.
I would agree with important, but not way more important. You can hurry a guy and he still completes a pass. If you sack him he for sure didn't.
i'm not trying to say hurries > sacks but instead hurries, hits, sacks (overall pressure) > just sacks.
I think we all agree with what you are saying. As the game is played today you can't have a good defense unless you can consistently pressure the QB. This can cause the QB to either throw into coverage because he didn't have the time to go through his proper reads or throw inaccurately which gives the D a greater chance to pick it off. Pressure also disguises some of the weaknesses you have in the secondary. All in all your D has to pressure to be successful. To go along with pressure your D also has to have a bunch of sacks to be great.
Luckily our D is GREAT!!

Byron's rated down at the bottom of the list with Ben.
They were discussing this in this link on the Rats board. They were really giving Ben down the road in this one. They think Flacco is Joe Montana or something.

In some cases, pressure can be better than a sack, when that pressure results in the QB making a poor decision with the ball in an effort to avoid being sacked. For instance, at the end of the Cowboys game, pressure by LaMarr Woodley result in Romo hurrying a pass to Witten, which was overthrown, picked off by Townsend, and returned for a TD. That was way better than if Woodley had just sacked Romo there.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
