Apparently, the balances my retirement accounts + whatever equity I have in my house isn't enough to get him to pick up the phone. There's at least one comma in the total valuation of those assets!Comment

I figure that's at least 5 people
PS: Did you watch the Rugby 7s in the Olympics. Can't believe that the Canadians beat the Aussies. And for US fans, the game for the bronze had an epic finish.Comment

This doesn't tell the whole story however. Dallas which is 9th in population is worth 1.57 billion. The next one is Boston at 23rd brand is 631 million.
Phoenix 5th in population but the Cardinals brand is only 160 million.
New York with 6.5 times the population of Dallas, the brand of the Jets 311 million, the Giants 456 million
Los Angeles market 3 times the population of Dallas, The Rams brand 424 million, the Chargers an embarrassing 184 million
Jacksonville 12th population only worth 138 million brand wise.
Green Bay with 3 times less people than Pittsburgh, Packers brand 372 million, Pittsburgh 163 million
The last one should send off alarm bells and needs further study, I think.

I think part of the problem is the decline of the rust belt states like Penn, Ohio, Michigan, and NY etc.
If a team in the NFL is in one of those states and they aren't in a major population center, I think it's safe to say the brand in that market is shrinking.
It might be a losing battle. I hope not but it is what it is.
Possibly one day I could see a time that the NFL might be in a contraction situation. Perhaps they deep six the smaller markets and move to international markets with much larger sizes.
Just a thought. Hope it never comes to this.Comment

The Steelers are an international brand.
I've seen Steeler bling in England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and Poland...and they weren't Americans
"Dying brands" don't take over other people stadiums or have other team put barriers to Steelers fans buying tickets
Another futile attempt at negativity"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

see how much tickets are for the Steelers at away games and then check prices for the next game. Unless its Cowboys, GB or Pats more than likely you see a huge price drop.
We aren’t going anywhere and floating that concern is just an excuse to create another doom and gloom thread.Steelers 27

But the fact remains that we only have 8 teams below us in brand value (2nd chart on the far right hand side under the heading "Brand" in the link below.
The Steelers are the 18th most valuable franchise (1st chart in the link below).
Sorry if the facts don't align with your perception of the facts but the facts and stats don't lie in this case.
The only way to correct this issue or to improve this data point is to stabilize the future of the franchise by acknowledging there is a problem and to discuss the solution by implementing a plan.
That is how successful businesses need to operate. Otherwise the outlook won't improve. And that isn't what we want is it?

search Steelers bars around the world and see how many pop up.

We don't need excuses to be mature adults and to discuss solving problems before they become larger problems. I know you'll be okay participating in it.
I'm going to suggest to you that the time to fix the downward trend is now and not in 3 to 5 years when we're down to the 24th most valuable brand.
Then all of sudden there is talk of leaving town. We have many examples of this issue with the St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers.
If you don't see it, then you don't see it. I don't what else to say.Comment

The Rooney's have owned the Steelers for 90+ years. We aren't going anywhere. We are in a downturn for the last 16 seasons(ie. No SB). We've been in this funk before with the end of the Noll era.
The Rooney's have younger family coming up. There is no football homey without the Pittsburgh Steelers.Comment

Life isn't always flowers, magical unicorns and star stickers. Sometimes we have to deal with things which aren't pleasant to us.

Forbes valuations are composed of the monetary worth of revenue sharing, city and market size, stadium deals minus any debts and brand. (These areas are supported by applying financial metrics such as debt and operating income to each one).Comment

For many years the Steelers were the organization that set the standard for other franchises.
I guess is wasn't just my imagination as the Steelers according to Wikipedia have fallen to the 18th spot in NFL team valuation.
Also there are only 8 teams with a worse brand (2nd chart in the link under the heading named Brand). Why is this? I think the simple explanation for this is that we play a boring brand of football on offense.
To top it off we've had all these locker room shenanigans from the last several years. We come out flat, uninspired and can't win playoffs games.
We are just ordinary and it starts at the top. As the saying goes sh** runs downhill and (onto the roster). Thoughts?

brand value. The Bengals are the worst.
Cowboys, Bears, Jets, Giants, Commanders, Raiders, are among the highest and dont have particularly great success lately.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 08-17-2024, 08:35 PM.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I find it quite interesting that the Commanders are that high. Washington has done very little for several years and I consider their market kind of lousy. In fact I only know one fan of that team, so there fan base must strictly be in there own local area.Comment
