Was randomly watching highlights of SB XL

Was thinking that the thing that made Ben great was on display at about 3:30.

It's 3rd and 28.

Uses mobility to avoid a sack.

Instead of running for 10 yards and punting, he's aware of where the LoS is. Sits down. Watches where the defenders are. Then throws about 40 yards in the air down to the 3 (Hines!).

Still young, but that's great presence of mind. Sets up the critical play of the game. It broke the plane, obviously ...or at least that's how they called it on the field. I like how they used to actually used to agree with the call on the field unless it was obviously wrong.

Of course, at ~ 6:45 we also see the other side of Ben. Where he throws right to the defender for what was almost a 90+ yard pick-6.

But we get to see Ike actually catch a ball after that!

Also...I had forgotten how terrible Seattle's clock management was at the end of the game. Down 11. 34 seconds left. Throw it to the flat and don't get out of bounds. Brutal.

Ben at 1:19 is even better than the one in XL. No one could make something out of broken plays like Ben could.

Is Harrison's return the best defensive play in SB history (~3:40)?

I remember feeling a lot better about the game with about 9 minutes left than I did for the end of the game. Classic Steelers Consistent heart attacks at the end.

Holmes had a great reception called back by that safety.

I can't see how Ben to Holmes isn't the best offensive play in SB history (7:55). I've said this before, but I don't think many QBs have the balls to throw that ball on 2nd and goal. And it was absolutely perfect. I think people often focus too much on the catch (which was also amazing).

I think I also sometimes forget how much anxiety I had sitting through the last 40 seconds too. Woodley was sooooo good in the playoffs.

Last week I made the mistake of watching the 2001 AFC Championship game against the Patriots on the NFL Network. By the end of it I hated Kordell even more than I did back then.

between that and the Bettis fumble I swear, this team knows how to make things interesting when games should be over.

I'm sure it happens with all teams, but it seems like it's every f-n game with us.

When you have a HOF QB you don't need much at WR. Hines was good/great but the rest?

Another point from what I remember-

We had 6-7 good DL who we could rotate in and out. I don't think we have that right now. Thin on talent up front on DL, (and Cam ain't getting any younger) which is why I've been wanting some 1st and 2nd round picks used on DL. Can Fautano play DL? lol

If Wilson can be good to very good, then I think the WRs can be enough.

Another point from what I remember-

We had 6-7 good DL who we could rotate in and out. I don't think we have that right now. Thin on talent up front on DL, (and Cam ain't getting any younger) which is why I've been wanting some 1st and 2nd round picks used on DL. Can Fautano play DL? lol

Now that the OL should be fixed, hopefully we'll invest a bunch of high draft picks on DL (we already added Benton).

The Dallas SB loss stings to me the most. We had the game won, just keep feeding the ball to Bam Morris.

The Dallas defense was gassed and could not stop him. But we had to get cute.....

Did they auto-review every TD back then? I was convinced Fitz never controlled his first TD, but don't see evidence from the angles in this video.

I do remember them viewing Harrison's forever, and was fearful they might say his helmet or forearm touched down before the ball crossed the plane. From some angles it still almost appears that way.

We could hold our heads high, though, most neutral fans knew Dallas got lucky.

The GB loss still haunts me. I thought we were going to do it when we got the ball back, but it wasn't meant to be. The week of the championship games we were on vacation in Costa Rica and the resort was full of Packers and Bears fans, remember Packers fans rooting for the Jets because they didn't want to face us.
