    2nd Round Trade Up Scenarios

So if we bundle our 2nd,3rd Round pick how far can we go up in the 2nd round. The more and more I think about it the more it makes sense.

We move up in the 2nd round to get Johnson or Fraizer. Never before have we drafted OL, round 1&2 but hey who knows.

Art II loves smashmouth and he is retiring soon I believe. He wants to go out kicking a**. Just like Jerome used to say" Pittsburgh Steelers, Smashmouth football baby".

There is going to be a few real good players available at 51. I know it's tempting to want to jump up but there are 2 top corners , 2 top centers many quality receivers and a bunch of good linebackers and a few real good D linemen so I believe we'll be okay if we are patient.
Payoff for that patience could be in round 3 we trade a 3rd rounder that we kept and got Aiyuk.

Art II does not love smashmouth football. He doesn’t care about kicking ass. He has hasn't shown the desire to do either in over 15 years.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Agreed. A lot of teams are waking up this morning and realizing how many good defensive players fell out of the first. I wouldn't be surprised if #51 sneaks up on us with one of the top two centers still available.

I was just curious by the theoretical move. You know there are guys on here who can access that point table that assigns a number value to all picks and then that tells you how far you can go up.

I have to go pick up mulch on sale I don't have time to learn all that crap right now.

This is what I think we should do.

            Sit tight.

            Hope a C falls.

If not, there will probably be a good WR or CB available.

If we end up not getting a C in round 2. Take one late. And hope a decent vet shakes loose after the draft (maybe by a team that drafts a C).

Interesting that the Steelers hosted centers Barton, Frazier, JPJ, and Nourzad - but not Van Pran. Obviously they got an eyeful at the combine, senior bowl, and pro-day, but wondering if he fell out of favour.

I think we are more likely to take Van Pran in Round 3 or Nourzad in Round 4 versus a Center in Round 2. But we'll see

I said the same thing in another thread. Seems weird that SVP wasn't hosted.

OK I went and checked. If we bundle our 98th pick with our 51st pick we can move up to #40. That's where Washington picks. We used to have a great relationship with Washington.
They have all new people though.

I imagine the Steelers may use that 98th pick just for this purpose. They may have had this scenario worked out in one of their predraft plans.

Washington also picks at 36 so they maybe willing to go for it.
GB picks at 41. Buff, Ten, Carolina, NE, Ariz and LAC pick above the WAS. That's a scenario I see the Steelers going for.

Could be, or could also be that they already believe they have seen him enough, and used the visits elsewhere. Hoping we won't have to find out as hopefully one of Frazier or JPJ falls.
