The Steelers flip Fields for a second rounder due to desperation and Khan again looks like a genius. But I dont want that. I want to see the Fields thing play out.

Russ can WANT 30 mil per all day long. The question is why would anyone pay him that when his name is connected with HORRIBLE contracts.

I am going to say it again. If we have success with Russ all that says is he can do that with US. We won one less season game than MAHOMMES with KENNY. The same Kenny that you insist is terrible.

Russ can be AVERAGE and we can win 12 and with a playoff game or two.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

      TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

        My prediction?

If Russ does not get hurt, and he plays well and if we win ONE playoff game he WILL be extended for less than y’all think. Fields will be with us for one season.

In that scenario, we will never know Fields potential as a Steeler until we see him succeed or fail in another uniform.

The purpose of Fields signing was as a backup or a fail safe if Russ flops.

Fields long term future with us is dependent on:
        1. Russ play
        2. Russ health.

He can win the job THIS SEASON if either Russ plays poorly or a Russ injury where he comes in and impresses ala Mason of last season.

Bottom line, if Russ plays well, we will not know who Fields is by seasons end.

Because teams are QB hungry and egotistical. They feel they can write something up that will protect them. If he has a good year I have ZERO doubt he will get 30 mill+.

unless Fields is used like Kordell was when O'Donnell was the main QB
even though Russ is at #1 QB spot, I think you need to utilize Fields' abilities ... at least it would give opponents something extra to think about & prepare for

              Bingo
which is why I say he's likely a one-year rental
If he plays poorly, we'll move on from him because he's getting up in age and washed
if he plays well, we'll move on from him because we won't want to pay him what he demands

I would love to get value out of Fields in that role. But I would suggest that a slash role will tell us nothing about who Fields is AS A QUARTERBACK.

If passes on trick plays told us who could play QB Randall El would be the best QB in franchise history.

Brady took less. Ben took less. Maybe Russ will take less?

Respect to Cousins. He continues to pimp the NFL for guaranteed money. Ultimately it depends on how contracts are structured(outside of Cousins). Cousins continues to attract money like he won one Championship.

agreed, I just don't see Russ getting a big contract again due to how the last 2 contracts ended. He would have to reach an AFCCG or have 40 TDs in order to get another handsome contract.

Cousins has some voodoo going on but at the same time, he didn't get the deal Russ just had 2 years ago.
