So tired of hearing about this play. Should it have been a TD? Yes. You know what else it should have been?

Thrown on time. You can see DJ has his flat-footed man beat at the 7-yard line. He doesn't touch the ball until he's 8 yards deep in the EZ, spinning around to catch the off-target throw.

You wanna talk ignoring what the rest of the team contributed? We scored 16 points and WIN while lavishing praise on the QB and IGNORING the low bar Kenny had all season due to DEFENSE.

Kenny and our team is UNDEFEATED in 2023 in games when we score 20 points.

Russ lost FOUR GAMES scoring more than 20 including 33 points in a loss.

You can't just ignore what the rest of the team contributed toward what happened. You can't say Wilson would have 26 TD passes under the exact same conditions that Kenny played under. We saddled Kenny with the worst coordinator in the league, and until said coordinator was fired, we appeared to have mandated a very safe offense to avoid turnovers at all costs. We just don't know how many TDs Wilson would have had under the same atrocious conditions.

I'm not saying Wilson isn't an upgrade over Kenny at this point in their careers. But I am saying that just bringing in Wilson doesn't equate to 26 TDs. The entire offensive philosophy has to be trashed. And it looks like it will be. It's just sad how we wasted 2 years with the Kenny/Mitch/Mason project by not putting them in a much better position to succeed.

If we can get the good Russ it works. If not, prepare for a lot of sacks, fumbles and positivity in pressers that frustrates fans after losses.
Some of it is out of Wilson's control, we don't know how effective Smith is going to be as OC under Tomlin and what some of the personnel is going to look like, etc.

GenX and I get it... of course, we kinda claim him here in Louisville... I actually knew his brother as a kid (who simply went by "Pickett"), but never met Wilson

I have little doubt that Russ would like to win another ring
I have a lot more doubt that he wants that ring more than maximizing his money

He will want more, but I think he has made a ton of money and now he wants to secure his HoF credentials. I think Manning took like a $5M paycut when he went to the Broncos

And Canada did that because KP is all world? Chicken and egg. How can you ask of a QB something he is incapable of. I tried telling yall that KP isnt what you think he is. And Canada found that out and had to mask his deficits. Canada became the scape goat because it’s easier to blame Canada than it is to say hey we can’t evaluate QB talent and missed on a first round pick. So let’s throw Canada under the bus because KP is a total scrub. Not saying Canada was a great coach but no one could have coached KP up because frankly he was a 5th round talent masquerading as a first due to desperation and a poor QB class.

That is DESPITE being SAT for TWO GAMES.

That is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to a 10 win playoff team. And he did not have NEAR the weapons he has now to play with.

BUT IF IT GOES SOUTH We get the best fail nickname in STEELER HISTORY. Better than Dwight hands of stone. Better than BURNT Alexander. Better than my classic BustWheat.

My friends I introduce to you the best fail nickname in franchise history.

Russ too old in the STEEL city?

    RUST WILSON
    (tm Captain Lemming)

Heck this is the Mean Joe, Fast Willie, Steel Curtain of fail nicknames.
I like it for several reasons. If he balls out the Steelers will make a run. If he doesn?t didn?t cost us much and proves that they have zero confidence in KP which means they are not as stupid as most thought. Win win.

Hmmm, kinda sounds like something the OC would call in a game?

I would suggest Mustang Sally be the name of a rare formation featuring both QBs
