Why are you sorry for the example. It highlights the real problem we have faced in the playoffs.

How many times was Ben the better QB and still lost?

QB’s don’t face each other in one on one competition. Its how they perform vs the defense.

Our problem is the defense makes every QB look like a HOFer lately. We couldn’t beat the Jags with Ben, Bell, AB, Bryant and JuJu because of early turnovers and a terrible 4th quarter on defense.

You think we will ever get a QB as good as Mahomes? Burrow isn’t better than Mahomes. Their defense shut KC down though in the second half.

All this yapping about the QB position when our D is hoarding cash and letting teams walk all over us in recent playoffs losses.

This is pretty damn accurate. Show up in the playoffs ready to play and protect the rock. The Pickens fumble was devastating. How many fumbles and interceptions against a coach-less stains team in the play-offs a few seasons back.

Ask Flowers about his fumble. Game changer.

You also have to use every inch of the field, including the middle. If your QB can't or don't have a strong enough arm, time to get a new QB.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Because I dislike being reminded of the fact that we lost to Tebow.

Windy's point (which I agree with) is that the bad QB can sometimes win one playoff game. But they aren't actually competitive.

We need to get a good QB (which still could be Kenny if he develops) if we're going to compete for more than a wildcard berth and a fluke win in the playoffs.

For example, this year I was hoping Allen would have 2-4 turnovers, then maybe we could do it...with the QB we had that was playing better. And that's in a year where a fair number of good QBs missed significant time due to injury. And we all know that the league is going to make changes so that's not going to happen. I think they made those changes mid-season already by instructing officials to not call holding unless it was super-egregious.

Given the murder's row of QBs in the AFC, maybe winning one playoff game on a fluke is all we can hope for in the medium term. It's hard to go from having Ben to that...but that's the reality of what the NFL is IMO.

The last 25 Superbowls have been won by:
          • 3 HOF QBs (11 games)
          • 5 Future HOF QBs (6 games)
          • 3 Borderline HOF QBs (4 games)
          • 2 Above average QBs (2 games)
          • 2 Average QBs (2 games)

If the team doesn't have a very good to elite QB then they better have an all-world defense otherwise the odds are it's gonna be a long wait for that 7th ring.

where do we spend the bulk of our money?

Our top 3 players on the cap are Watt, Cam and Minkah.

Our D should be all world compared to what we spend on offense for skill position players.

Well, we lost our best defender to injury in Watt.

2 to 4 turnovers would be nice but I would like a few stops instead of letting them march down the field on the first possession.

Yep. We couldn't defend the middle of the field. And that's not good facing a high end QB with two good TEs.

We’ve had some unfortunate injuries to the ILB position but its no excuse for how bad we have performed as a unit these last 7 years in the playoffs.
