I agree though, OC and DC are thankless jobs and the first one fired when teams don’t do well are the coordinators most of the time.
    Absolutely.
The thing is other OCs may get fired (or whatever term you want to use) but lots of them get hired by some other team. Ours never do.
Don’t you think it’s strange that after 17 years and all those wins, Tomlin doesn’t have one branch on his coaching tree..
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

      True.
Being around that long seems like it would have been a positive on their resume.

There are definitely some quality names being offered interviews. Let's hope they stay committed to going outside the organization and bringing in a real pro. I know some are wondering if the Steelers OC is really desirable (hence the title) - but this is one of those times the stability and patience of the organization will pay off. Anyone who is worth their salt has to recognize this is a team that stuck with Canada far longer than anyone else would - and that patience with progress has to be attractive to any potential hire.

Good point but at the same time no coach under Tomlin has gone on to be a HC outside Arians who was already an established coach. I want to see a young OC who brings new ideas to the team but I fear that won't be happening given the above and given how conservative Tomlin is now as a HC.

I’m not sure if any coach of tomlins moved on a was promoted to any position.

Yeah seems like they all just disappear out of the NFL lol, I think Haley is coaching Jr. High football or something now. Fichtner disappeared. NFL does love to recycle coaches too which makes it all the stranger.

Just lost a DB coach to another team, the Tomlin coaching tree might have its first branch sprouting.

Well, it looks like I was right again.
No top level OC candidates were interested in interviewing here.

Hmm, went from assistant defensive backs coach to safety coach.
                      Is that a promotion?
