    Cam's Future?

Lots of speculation about Tomlin going around.

What do you think about Cam?

He's under contract next season with a cap hit of $22.5M. $6.5M dead if cut / retired pre-Jun1 (half that for 2 years if post Jun 1).

I love Cam. But he's getting pretty old. Battling injuries all year. Didn't look very impactful this season IMO....although I bet run D was better with him than without.

DL is a big need for us no matter what we do with Cam IMO.

need to quit farting around with projects like Leal and Loudermilk, and prioritize getting a bona fide DL to take over for Cam
he's looking tired and old, but he's still the best DL we have

Great post and you certainly saw the difference in the Bills run game with Cam out. I think he has earned the right to make the decision by himself.

Whatever he decides I can respect.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

He was on the sideline for a long time to start the game. If he is tired that early its time to go.

D is way overpaid IMO for what we are getting in return.

and I’m really atarting to wonder if paying to s of money for D is even a good business model anymore. So many players on D hurt every year. Just keep drafting and reloading. Stop paying big money for players who can’t win playoff games.

If he doesn't retire then at the least the Steelers will restructure to reduce his cap hit, i.e. kick the can.... I hate it, but that's what you do for a player like Cam.

I've said since last season that we need to get DL very early in the draft. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this uis a strong defensive line draft. I'd love to see us get Kris Jenkins from Michigan but lots of those discussions ahead.

              From Dejan,

His postgame podcast, he said the guy is literally playing on a broken groin. I will give him a mulligan for this year, but I do think his better days are behind him. Redo his contract (for cap space) and start planning for the future without him.

Benton gives flexibility to go to DE or NT. I think that allows draft flexibility to shoot for another 3rd round type DL…

To me, between the injury and inability to do any conditioning because of the injury, i think he could be solid next year?

The only question is whether he WANTS to.

And i honestly think that depends on how he feels this team will be next season

I remember certain fans wanting Ben back. The after he left, they cried about his dead cap hit.
Here we are again with fans saying to keep him.
And they will be crying about our lack of cap then next couple years.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
