what if it's the 32nd pick in the first round?
TN said they didn't try to trade Vrabel for picks. My thought is.. who the hell would trade for him? That seems silly.
I doubt anyone would trade for Tomlin. Seems like if that is an option just wait for him to get fired and try to win him over instead of giving up picks for them.Steelers 27

Now that we finished strong, this isn't going to happen.
When we were talking about this last time, I said that I'd be pushing hard for the compensation in the Gruden trade.
2x 1sts 2x 2nds.
Or at least some kind of package that would let us trade up into the top few picks to grab someone we thought was a legit franchise QB.
If we're trading him for the best center on the board (late 1st), I don't think it's worth it.Comment

I would like to see the posters who voted YES and NO.
And if you voted NO there should be a line that says please explain.
I think we should absolutely try and trade Tomlin. I will take a first round pick. I would also take a 2nd round pick for the trade.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

Reading through the responses, looks like most who said no didn't say "I'd never trade him" but "he's worth more than one 1st round pick".
Trading him for one 2nd round pick (that could become Chase Claypool!) would be terrible asset management IMO.
Why would you trade him for so much less than the Gruden trade?
Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you should should be trading donuts for dimes.Comment

I guess if this were to happen we'd find out what other teams really think of Tomlin. I would gladly take a 1st round pick, an additional pick would be even better. I'm not sure Steelers would get much more than that.
I'll say it again though, I just do not see the Steelers trading Tomlin, I'd be shocked if it happens. I think it's much more likely he simply steps down after this season and Steelers comply without looking for anything out of respect (and Steeler image).
In regards to Vrabel, I think the Titans owner said they explored trading him but found it would take too long and they didn't want to miss out on any possible coaching candidates.Comment

I did not say taxes him for dimes! I want to get what I can, and in my judgment that market for NFL team is at least a 2nd round pick.Reading through the responses, looks like most who said no didn't say "I'd never trade him" but "he's worth more than one 1st round pick".

I don't care what we get, as long as he is gone. Rudolph? What to do with the Tomlin situation? These things take priority over our first round pick. Only then can we assess the off season.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years.
