So much for Canada being the problem

The last 2.5 years whipping boys offensive system is perfectly fine.
Lotsa posters must be feeling pretty foolish right now.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

LOL. Assuming you're being serious - Not sure how our success against a well below average Bungles' D, proves that Canada's system is perfectly fine. Numerous analysts over 3 seasons has pointed out how simple and predicable it is.

Games are being called differently since he left, Mason has driven the (short) bus the best, deserves another start.

Canada was certainly a big problem with the offense.

Not the only problem. But a big one.

??? Steelers and Bengals played earlier and the yardage for the Steelers offense was pretty much the same. Bengals D is ranked 30th in the NFL and they were missing one of their best DLine. I thought KP actually looked better in the first Bengals game vs Mason tonight who did play well, especially considering he hadn't played in over a year.

The story tonight for me was Pickens is a physical freak at WR and the Steelers controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Don't get me wrong, Mason Rudolph played very well. The problem is trying to really be able to identify and gauge what this performance means. The Bengals have been owned by the Steelers in two games. The Bengals coaches have no idea how to defend the Steelers, and the Steelers have found the looks that give Browning all kinds of problems and expose his weaknesses. They simply gave the look of man coverage and then came with zone, and Browing was just throwing the ball to defenders he didn't even see because he thought they were in man. He looked like a rookie in his first game tonight.

Seeing that game plan that the Bengals had on defense was even more puzzling. I know they lost Reader last week, and he was the real force on that defensive line that could really give problems in the run game. Not having him on the DL gave the offense a 2-way go because they couldn't stop the run or the pass. Whoever thought covering George Pickens in single man coverage for most of the game is going to be a pinata to the fans. The book on the Steelers is to double Pickens on every play, and they can't score points. It has worked all year. So what do the Bengals do? They let Pickens destroy them and give Rudolph all those opportunities to feel comfortable making those throws. That was a horrible game plan, and the Steelers and Mason Rudolph took full advantage.

I think this is finally the end of Mitch Trubisky as the #2, and it may be the end of him with the Steelers. The effort on the run Rudolph made for the first down near the goal line ended Mitch Trubisky ever being taken seriously again. That's how you play with heart, and that's how you play to win. There couldn't be a more stark contrast between the two quarterbacks in that moment.

Now, I know Rudolph looked really good, but the Bengals game plan and execution was atrocious. It was probably a combination of both good play by Rudolph and the Bengals just being bad.

Also, the Steelers game plan and play calling was good, and the offensive line was opening holes all game and they gave Rudolph plenty of time to throw the ball. This is what it is supposed to look like when an opponent fails to put a competent game plan together, the have the number of the opposing young QB, and the defense they are playing against has no answers for what you are doing because they miscalculated the way the Steelers would attack them, and they ignored everything that all other defenses have had success doing to shut down the offense all season.

Great job out of Mason Rudolph, the OL, and the entire team tonight. They looked like a very good NFL team that was playing for their coach and a team trying to find themselves and restore their pride. It's only one game, but they showed what could be tonight against a team that was asking for a beating. But they gave them that beating....and that's a good way to start down the right path.

Let's see where they go from here.

We played the Bungles. And our D flustered their backup QB and got us a few short fields.

Happy for Mason that he played well. But it really wasn't much better than Kenny played against the Bungles.

Totally disagree. MR did things tonight that KP failed to do in a dozen games. People are now trying to down play MR’s performance to try and save KP.

MR threw deep successfully consistently through out the game. KP never has done that. MR attacked the middle of the field succesfully throughout the game. KP can’t do that.

Posters need to stop down playing what MR did; he unlocked the offense so every other aspect of the offense could work.

Did he attack the middle of the field? I don't think he had many completions in the middle of the field at all, I mean Friermuth had 0 catches and 0 targets. The difference was his ability to find check downs and sustain drives. Also it helps when two of your completions go for long tds. Plus the defense was shutting down the Bengals offense which allows the Steelers offense to be more aggressive.

Did you see the passing chart for this game vs the previous against CIN? Virtually the same, except Rudolph was completing the intermediate passing, something Pickett has struggled with since Day 1.

This!!!! Mason looked like what we hoped Kenny would be this season. He was decisive and for a guy who hasn't played in a long time...more accurate than Pickett.

Another performance or two like what we saw yesterday, then I think we are seeing Pickett head down the path of Sam Darnold and other 1st round disappointments
