Why would a good/great OC want to

    Come here?
With Tomlin handcuffing the coaches and long history of coaching careers ending here, it doesn?t seem like anyone already established would take the job.
Add in having a mediocre qb and the possibility of a new HC relatively soon where they could get fired.
Best bet is a good position coach that wants the title and money and is ok with Tomlin calling the shots.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

An opportunity to massively turn around the worst offense in the league. Imagine the stroke to the ego, doing that for a storied franchise with the best fan base???

if I’m an OC coming here, I do it with the understanding that I have near full control over the playbook and game planning.

That's the key. Those concessions would likely need to be made to lure a really good established OC to join the Steelers.

You're probably not going to get an established OC unless he's a fired head coach. I think they should look at a young QB coach or assistant from the Shannahan or McVeigh systems.

I think Tomlin's meddling with the offense is overblown by fans. It's hard to imagine something like that would get in the way of anyone wanting to come here. It's one of 32 jobs in the world and a storied franchise. I'd be more worried that an OC would be scared off by the prospect of having Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky run his offense.

l’m just not sure you understand how this is supposed to work. It’s all about looking cool and saying the right things. But I’d be ok with him knowing how to coach also.

Which why they may go with an assistant OC and promote him instead of an experienced OC.

You usually don't see great coordinators making a sideways move to another team. Bienemy is an exception. If you're looking for an OC you either get an assistant from elsewhere or a college coach.

Yep. MT is a proven coach killer and KP is looking like he isn't a starter. And it's not like the Steelers will hand out $$$ for an OC.

If Tomlin returns next season I'm actually assuming the OC will be Faulkner or someone else already on the team. I doubt any established OC is coming here unless he has some kind of relationship with Tomlin already.

Basically if Tomlin returns expect Canada 2.0 but a likely improved version since I don't see how it could be much worse. If Tomlin doesn't return then it's a new coaching staff.
