One less weapon on their offense to deal with, even as weak as it is.
I think it's not just the pass coverage (which is a problem), it's the communication too.

The main ILB pretty much has to be a good communicator if your D is going to be good.

And that's tough when you're playing guys off the practice squad or the couch (or a backup edge).

If there's one play left in the season and we need a stop at the 1 to make the playoffs, all ILBs hurt, I think they'd try Danny Smith before they'd try Herbig.

Like our other starting ILBs, not sure Smith would be healthy to suit up. That shot he took on the sideline was rough (especially for an old guy).

We need a three down linebacker who can cover and fits our 3-4, nickel, and dime defense. We haven't had a good one since Shaizer. My mock draft 2nd round pick is spent here.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

              Nick Herbig college pass coverage:

In coverage Herbig made 2 pass breakups, no interceptions, and a QB rating when targeted of 108.6
Dunno, maybe that is a step up from Alexander or Roberts?

I like the guy, but everything I'm reading says you could get him in the 3rd if not the 4th.

Those websites are not up to speed that you are reading. They are reactive. As soon as Willson impresses at the combine or pro day ( runs a sub 4.6 40, does the shuttle in less than 4.5 seconds, and tests out with a good S2 & interviews well ) with reports and data says he will, he will be seen as a 2nd round pick by these web sites. There is no chance he is a 4th round pick. His skills are in high demand. He should be a target player for us on day one and two of the draft. He fits our needs.
